Michael Dorris was born in 1945 in Louisville, KY. He received his Master of Philosophy degree in 1970 from Yale University. He was praised for his sensitive and intelligent treatment of Native American concerns. He also published under the pseudonym Milou North. Dorris was a novelist, short story writer, poet, nonfiction writer, author of children’s books, essayist , scriptwriter and songwriter.
