Anthropologist Arthur Caswell Parker grew up on the Cattarougus Indian Reservation. His father was Seneca Iroquois and his mother was Scottish-English. Parker was a folklorist, archaeologist, museologist, historian and worked hard to defend the rights of American Indian people. He was an influential member of the Society of American Indians, along with Gertrude Bonnin (Zitkala Sa).
