Born in Ottawa Ontario, Canada McCarthy was raised on a farm with her grandmorther and two aunts. Here, she gained the spirituality that is now apparent in her writing. McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Ottawa University and a Masters in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before becoming a professional fiction and non-fiction writer she was a systems librarian and an ISP provider.
