Mandy (M.L.) Smoker was born in Wolf Point, Montana, on the Fort Peck Reservation in 1975. She has a BA from Pepperdine University in English and Education and a MFA from the University of Montana. While at the U of M she was the recipient of the Richard Hugo Fellowship. Her first collection of poems, ‘Another Attempt at Rescue’ was published in the spring of 2005 by Hanging Loose Press.
