Edwina Crowe Jones is an enrolled member of the Eastern
Band of Cherokee Indians. She is originally from Cherokee, NC but
currently lives in Lexington, NC. She left her Cherokee home in
1964 at eleven years old to attend Concho Indian Boarding School,
El Reno, Oklahoma. She graduated from Riverside Indian Boarding
School, Anadarko, Oklahoma in 1970. She felt it important that
her memories and the memories of her fellow Riverside graduates
representing 32 American Indian tribes and 14 states be captured
in American Indian History. She is a twice retired public school
teacher, having taught for 33 years. She received her Bachelor’s
degree from Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, NC and her
master’s in school counseling from A&T State University in
Greensboro, NC. She is a National Board Certified Counselor and
has a diploma in Biblical Counseling from Light University.
