In German. The archives of the Federal Republic of Germany hosts a virtual gallery on the site, which includes images of film posters from pre-WWII Germany and political posters, among other items. An English translation of the site is in the planning stages.

In English or German. The German Embassy’s history portion of the website includes "Milestones in History", a timeline of events in German history. The site also includes information about the unification of East and West Germany, as well as the Berlin Airlift and the Marshall Plan.

In German. Beginning in 1985, a day by day account of DDR history and the reunification is provided. There is indication that the site will eventually add the earlier years. Additionally, comprehensive biographical information is available for the key political figures involved with the DDR.

In German. The Deutsches Historisches Museum (German History Museum) provides this site covering 20th century German history. Along with the information about the eras in the 20th century are photographs, works of art, and other objects. Information about an item’s origin is provided when the item is clicked on the screen.

In English. The Library of Congress hosts this site that includes short narrative histories interspersed with scans of materials such as letters, paintings, and books. The histories begin around medieval times and end around 1875.
