The American Civil War was a series of multiple bloody battles fought between the Union and the Confederacy in 1861 to 1865 until the Confederacy surrendered. The Civil War initiated due to the controversy of slavery between the two groups. As a result of this deadly war, the African American slaves were free from cruel landowners thanks to President Abraham Lincoln. Despite the contradictions, Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves due to his proclamation and moral interpretations rather than the military’s approaches.
