Looking at the judicial justice system today, it is easy to see that they screwed up in the case of Hae Min Lee and with the sentencing of Adnan Syed to first-degree murder for the murder of Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed was accused of killing his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee on January 13 1999 after school. With the help of some unstable statements from Jay, and a few other people. He was charged with first-degree murder in February 2000 for the murder of Hae Min Lee. Although the prosecution/ defense believes that Adnan did kill Hae Min Lee on that fateful day. The truth is that Adnan Syed did not kill her because the state's case against Adnan had many holes in it. The police did not consider didn’t consider other suspects. And Adnan had an alibi for that day. All this evidence proves that Adnan …show more content…
Adnan’s friend Asia sent him a letter while he was in prison saying that she saw him on the 13th of January during the 21 Minutes that were stated to have been the time that he had killed Hae Min Lee. She states that she saw him in the library near the school. She states that she was talking to Adnan and her boyfriend came up to them and started arguing with her thinking that Adnan was hitting on her. After Adnan leaves she states that the time was after 21 minutes that the state put the time of the murder at. This means that Adnan could not have killed Hae in the time that was stated that he killed her. The reason Adnan’s lawyer screwed up was that even after Adnan showed her the letter, she didn’t use it during any of the trials even though it gave him an alibi for the time the state, state’s the murder happened. Think about this if Adnan's lawyer had brought this up in a trial it would have given him an alibi and maybe he would not have been convicted of this crime and have saved 23 years of his life. This means that if she had used this information Adnan could have gone free and lived his life normally without this
Therefore, Adnan Syed did not murder Hae Min Lee. The first element about Adnan’s case that proves that Adnan is innocent is that Leakin Park is an hour away from where Adnan lives so why would he get out of his way to murder someone and then dispose of the body an hour away. In the investigation on the case, Sarah Koenig was talking to Rabia Chaudry, friend of Adnan, and this comment proves that Adnan wouldn’t be able to murder Hae: “is Adnan suppose to get to Leakin Park so fast? It’s like an hour into the city.
Adnan said he didn’t know what he did that day and that it felt like a normal day it being six weeks who couldn’t blame him. Except for the part of how could this be an ordinary day, Adnan claimed to be very close with Hae how would you not remember the day of her disappearance. This day should be engraved in your brain for awhile at least six weeks I would say. Adnan’s only claims was to be with Asia, Jay’s girlfriend and Hae’s friend at the time and she was nowhere to be found during the court hearings and investigation.
Nobody was rushing to convict Adnan specifically. The detectives were not simply picking and choosing evidence that looked bad for Adnan, they were doing their jobs
Introduction: I am going to discuss with you why I believe the case against Adnan Syed for the murder and kidnapping of Hae Min Lee should be reopened within the court. I have reasoning behind Asia McClain and her proposed alibi for Adnan and with a DNA test found linking a former serial killer/rapist, Ronald Lee Moore. I will be discussing the credibility behind Asia's letters and affidavits and how Adnan is innocent and should have a fair trial. I will also discuss why I believe Jay's statements on the day do not all match up as he tells different stories.
Looking at another person’s perspective of the case, Katie Clifford, in her view, “In our files, we have a lot of things, evidence they collected that got sent off and we don’t have reports for everything and we are curious about the results that we don’t have and whether or not those exist and just why they’re not in the files that we have.” Katie Clifford is one of Deirdre Enright’s students, Adnan’s former lawyer. Moreover, since we are considering possible suspects we should talk about how Adnan became the star suspect of this
There is no direct proof that Adnan killed her, and Jay is the only person who has a timeline. Instead of accusing Adnan of killing Hae, maybe everyone should be accusing someone
The investigators were convinced it was Adnan Syed- the ex boyfriend, they saw through his charm and manipulation accusing him of killing Hae because they broke up which was in December a month before she went missing. The amount of evidence in the case was not strong. First, when they tested
Therefore, Adnan is innocent because he wouldn’t have a reason to kill her if they didn’t
Adnan’s was convicted because of two things, a testimony by Jay Wild, a state witness about helping him to bury the body and Adnan’s phone records that corroborated to the story of Jay about his movement on 13th February 1999. This was the day Hae Min Lee died. The prosecution used cell phone records to track Adnan’s movements at around 7pm in the evening and Wild’s story supported it.
Murder is a deplorable crime that leaves behind a trail of devastation and grief for the victim's loved ones. There are many motivations behind such a heinous act, making it hard to determine the criminal. The case of Adnan Syed, who was sentenced to killing his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, focuses on the many possible reasons why a person would commit such a hateful act. Despite the concrete evidence that was never shown, a number of reasons could show what could have led Adnan to commit such a horrendous crime. One reason could be that Adnan was driven to kill Hae after she broke up with Adnan.
These people say that since Hae broke up with Adnan and that was enough reason to want her dead. However, Adnan was a smart kid who would realize that killing someone for breaking up with you is not a valid reason. Adnan was not hurt enough to kill Hae; he was devastated when she died and he didn't know about it when he was told. Also, they say that Adnan had enough time to kill Hae. What this opinion fails to take into account is that Asia saw Adnan at the library around the same time of the murder and she was never used in court as an alibi (Koenig, “The Best Defense is a Good Defense”).
Charlotte Lester English 12 Ms. Knezevich May, 8, 2023 Undue Credibility and Injustice The modern court of law is incomplete without the inconsistencies of eyewitness accounts, the complexity of plea bargains, and the internal bias that every member of the police, jury, and even the judge holds. In the case of Adnan Syed, the potential killer of ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, it was confirmation bias that put him behind bars for twenty-three years of his life. Due to the impending pressure to give justice to Lee and her family, the state investigation led the case with evidence formulated to fit their favourite story. Where naturally, convictions should be based on evidence, Syed’s case was the complete opposite.
Have you ever been accused of a mistake you never made? Would you feel frustrated? Well imagine how Adnan Syed felt when he was convicted, and possibly framed, for the murder of Hae Lee in 1995. Sarah Koenig, the author of the podcast, had a purpose to show us that there are real systemic flaws in our justice system, and was successful in doing so. She proved this by showing that the judge became disbarred shortly after finishing the case with Adnan, evidence was forgotten about in court, and there were possible suspects and witnesses ignored.
This proves that Adnan was the one who killed her. Jay and Adnan both committed a serious crime. Adnan killed Hae with the help from
