What was it about the ad for a counselor that caught your attention? Where did you see the ad?
I saw the add on indeed.com. Two things caught my attention. The first is the possibility to work with the A&D population and the second the position seemed to give way to growth opportunities.
Please tell me how you believe your education qualifies for this position.
I received my Masters of Arts in Counseling from a school that prepares students for both LPC and LMFT license. This background has prepared me to work with individual and families from various therapeutic theories including DBT, CBT, Solution Focused, Narrative, Family systems and many more.

Please tell me how you believe your work experience qualifies you for this position.
I was provided Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) for cannabis users training during my employment with Youth Villages. This training provided me with tools to move adolescents from the pre contemplative stage of change concerning their cannabis use to the action stage. I also have experience working with those effected by addiction at Addiction Campuses of Tennessee. There I led 8-10 DBT groups a week and saw 1-3 individual clients once a week for individual. …show more content…

During my time with Addiction Campuses of Tennessee I was able to experience working with individuals with addictions and dual diagnosis. Working with this population i found to be very challenging and rewarding. Chemical abuse changes the wiring of the brain. For many of the “addicts” I worked with there is usually a foundation of pain they are trying to mask with their drug of choice.
