I am an eighth grader at Jericho Middle School. In my ELA class, I read the book The Other Wes Moore. My hobbies are playing piano and video games. Also, I enjoy running and swimming. My favorite subject is science. When I read the first couple pages of this book I was intrigued. The fact that you grew up to a Rhodes Scholar, decorated veteran, White House Fellow, and business leader but someone with the same name and a similar childhood ended up a convicted murderer was really interesting. I wanted to know what caused the one of the Wes’s to to live a life of crime. My favorite thing about the book was how detailed the other Wes Moore’s life was. I yours was very descriptive because you lived it and you could ask your family. I knew that you interviewed him but, you wrote about his life as if you were there for every moment. One example, was when Wes saw that Cheryl was high on heroin. “She lay on the couch, saliva dripping out of her mouth onto her red Gap T-shirt, her pupils dilated and rolling to the back of her head, heroin still flowing through her veins.” I was able to easily picture that. It was almost as if I was standing right beside her. After reading “The Other Wes Moore the only thing I wanted to know more about was the interviews and the interactions you had with the other Wes Moore. There were some bits of the interviews at the …show more content…
If it wasn’t for your mother, Joy, you could have end up like the other Wes Moore. You started to change when your mother took on multiple job to save enough money to sent you to Valley Forge Military Academy. Before that, you and the other Wes Moore were pretty similar. Both of you were involved with drugs. The other Wes Moore also had family influence but, it was weaker and his brother, Tony, even though he told Wes to stay out of drugs, had a bad influence on Wes because Tony was drug dealer. Wes wanted to be just like
The pressure of not making enough money to provide for his family was getting to him. Wes ended up getting back into the drug game.
In the book,”The Other Wes Moore,” Wes could have prevented himself from a tragic future. Throughout the story, he made terrible decisions that would impact his future forever. These decisions led him to his future of regret and misery. Wes grew up on the criminal side of Baltimore, where drug dealers ran the streets. At a young age, Wes was fighting other people, selling drugs, lying to his mother, and he became a father in his teens.
In the excerpts of The other Wess Moore, both Wess went through a hard childhood. During those times tho there was a very distinct difference that carved their paths for them. Author Wess explains three main differences that chose their paths, those three were the different pathos, cause and effects, and tones. There were a lot of different emotions (pathos) for Wess he admits “I have done things I deeply regret” (Moore). This explains how author Wess has gone through many hard times and has taken action in something that he should have not been involved in.
Narrative Essay The book “Nuclear Jellyfish of New Jersey” was a good book. Even though it is a lower reading level than I should be reading, it was still a interesting book. My favorite character throughout the story was Tony. This story also had lots of qualities in the writing that I liked that I will tell you about. One more thing that I will talk about is how this type of book is for lower reading levels and how I should have challenged myself with a more advanced book.

I am Andrew Marin, A student of Hillsborough Middle school. I read your memoir Called Knots in My Yo-yo String. The book was the second most favorite book I read because American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History by Chris Kyle, Jim Defelice, and Scott Mcewen. You book was really good. I don’t like to read books unless the seem like a book I can relate to or be fascinated in.

But at first Trent seems to resist and says he doesn’t need help. He ends up running out every night with his brother to get into some trouble.
Growing up, Wes did not have anyone else to look up to besides his older brother Tony, that was involved in
“Words like irie became cool. Constable became policemen. Easy-nuh became chill out. (pg.8)” The quote is describing how people in different countries have different words for the same thing we say but different.
There were interesting events taking place, but those events were so badly written and were in such a bad order that I did not enjoy them. Mary Wesley is a world renowned writer and I have read another one over her stories and it was full of detail and I truly enjoyed it. This story on the other hand was lacking a well written format. If I had written the story it would have been in one day to another format.
The book Of Mice and Men is the novel that has impacted my life. This novel was written by John Steinbeck. This novel is mainly about two men, George and Lennie. Lennie had problems and was a very large man. George was a short man with sharp features.
At the end of the story, they escaped to Amity and looked for help. Conclusion: I think the story is interesting. The plot is very exciting and makes me feel very excited and wants to finish the whole book in one go. From the story, I learned that being special from others is nothing wrong and it can be a very good thing.
My hobbies are baking, sewing and I love music. I play the flute in band and I love playing it outside of school as well, I really enjoy the flute because I can play popular pop songs from the radio on my flute. I’m really proud of my flute skills because its the first instrument I've ever played and I practice so much. I am currently reading Dracula, but my favorite book is Gone. It is about when adults disappear into thin air and leave kids in a world with limited supply of food, mutating animals, and a boundary like a dome covering them.
Soul of A New Machine was written in a way that I hadn’t quite been exposed to before. It followed Data General, a computer company on their journey to building Eagle, a 32-bit computer which would help revolutionize the industry. What made this story interesting and different than others I’ve read in the past is how Tracy Kidder, the book’s author, describes the current setting in first-person and weaves in dialogue to give more context and information about something. One thing that was beautifully done was character progression. It was clear that Tracy worked hard to demonstrate people’s actions in writing so you got a good idea as to what they were like as a person.
