It is only recently that guns have been used as a tool to complete the task that has always been done. Many people believe that it is safer to live in a world where guns aren’t allowed to be available to the general public however there are still individuals who believe that guns are the only reason that there is peace. Allowing anyone to bear arms brings potential danger to innocent civilians, but it is believed every citizen of the United States of America has the right to own a weapon for a reason such as protection. There have been many prevented robberies and assaults just because the person being attacked had a gun with them. Many people believe that guns are what keep the United States at piece because if guns were absent then everything would go back to the medieval ages where the strong ruled over the weak. Also the biggest reason to stop supporting gun control is because of gun dishonesty. Guns can be acquired through illegal means without background checks. Supporters of gun control believe that having a clean background check means that the person is least likely to commit a crime with a gun. (Cooke, 2013) Guns can no longer be controlled since there have been many guns produced and there are still more in production. “There is no doubt that the existence of some 260 million guns…However, there is no way to extinguish this supply of guns. It would be constitutionally suspect and politically impossible to confiscate hundreds of millions of weapons.” (Wilson, 2007) even if people cannot purchase the guns they can always just steal them or find another way of obtaining them. (Wilson, 2007) Guns are also very important for self-defense they have prevented many assaults. “It's also important to note that guns play an important role in self-defense. Estimates differ as to how common this is, but the numbers are not trivial. Somewhere between 100,000 and more than 2 million cases of self-defense occur every year.”
