Carlos Salinas Mrs. Green English 1301 23 October, 2015 Gun Control Before mankind knew how to count there has always been violence and massacres of other humans. It is only recently that guns have been used as a tool to complete the task that has always been done. Many people believe that it is safer to live in a world where guns aren’t allowed to be available to the general public however there are still individuals who believe that guns are the only reason that there is peace. Allowing anyone to bear arms brings potential danger to innocent civilians, but it is believed every citizen of the United States of America has the right to own a weapon for a reason such as protection. In the year 2015 there have been approximately 305 mass shootings …show more content…
There have been many prevented robberies and assaults just because the person being attacked had a gun with them. Many people believe that guns are what keep the United States at piece because if guns were absent then everything would go back to the medieval ages where the strong ruled over the weak. Also the biggest reason to stop supporting gun control is because of gun dishonesty. Guns can be acquired through illegal means without background checks. Supporters of gun control believe that having a clean background check means that the person is least likely to commit a crime with a gun. (Cooke, 2013) Guns can no longer be controlled since there have been many guns produced and there are still more in production. “There is no doubt that the existence of some 260 million guns…However, there is no way to extinguish this supply of guns. It would be constitutionally suspect and politically impossible to confiscate hundreds of millions of weapons.” (Wilson, 2007) even if people cannot purchase the guns they can always just steal them or find another way of obtaining them. (Wilson, 2007) Guns are also very important for self-defense they have prevented many assaults. “It's also important to note that guns play an important role in self-defense. Estimates differ as to how common this is, but the numbers are not trivial. Somewhere between 100,000 and more than 2 million cases of self-defense occur every year.”
Cameron Coletta Mrs. Cummings English III A.P. 3 March, 2016 Gun Containment Policy There is much controversy over whether or not to make the owning of guns illegal. While some think that doing this would bring an end to monstrous events, previously taken place, many others believe that this law would make the country more dangerous. My claim that making guns illegal would bring more chaos to the country, causing underground transactions including weapons to take place, and criminals who plan to commit such horrible crimes will find a way to get gun even if it is made illegal, is supported by logical evidence. The claim that making guns illegal would make the country more dangerous, is supported by logical evidence.
It analyzes the upshot of previous gun control laws and reflects why firearms can be equally effective and ineffective. This book delivers many statistics, making it incredibly fascinating for many individuals who can relate to the various diverse opinions regarding gun control. Likewise, it divulges a long history of gun control in America, extending back to the first English conquerors of the New World. Once more, Living with Guns presented a reasonable deportment on gun control and evaluated the pros and cons of employing gun control laws mutually. Together these two authors shared a resemblance in captivating the identical manner regarding gun control.
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.
Gun control is in the forefront of the national new stemming from the mass shootings at schools and public places across the United States. Concerns have been raised both by the public and our nation’s government about gun violence and creating more strict legislation. One of the measures looked at is the use of smart technologies to make guns safer. This call for smart technologies to be incorporated into firearms has a lack of consensus on both sides of the gun control issue making smart technologies a slowly researched and developed area. For this reason, smart gun technologies should not be incorporated into gun control legislation.
Many of us own guns because they make us feel safer. We know we can protect ourselves. If they take guns away, how will we protect our families? There would be nothing worse for a man than to have to sit and watch as someone hurt his family, because he had no means of defense. Also, many ladies who have to walk home or down alleys late at night are carrying guns to defend themselves if attacked.
Gun control is what restricts people from buying and using guns, but these laws are not strengthened at the extent they need to be strengthened. This leads to many people getting these guns and using them to cause mass shootings all over the U.S. For example, according to the Council on Foreign Relationship, a news article that covers major world issues, in 2017, mass shootings at a music festival in Las Vegas and at a church near San Antonio have rekindled the gun control debate (“U.S. Gun Policy: Global Comparisons”). The fact that gun control is still not tightened is a huge margin and error, and still causes mass shootings as we just covered. Many people have said that we should not allow guns to be purchased, which would seem like the logical option. However, according to the same source, Council on Foreign Relationship, some states, such as Idaho, Alaska, and Kansas, have passed various laws attempting to nullify
Gun control is a concept that implies that if there are a set of regulations that restrict how civilians sell, possess,or use firearms, the abuse of them won’t be a possible danger to the unarmed. Those who side completely with this concept are known as civilians who are pro-gun control. Others who are under the belief that no possible amount of laws can tame the abuse of firearms and should only be handled by the military are known as those who are anti-gun control. Truthfully, I position myself amongst those who are pro-gun control, however I feel the laws that are currently in action to help maintain control of guns are not the most sincere and should be re-established. First off, the existing gun control laws are as
In today’s age, gun violence has continued to climb. With an increase in thefts, break in’s, murders school shootings and suicides. We used to think America was so great and peaceful, but not so much anymore. Crime rates have gone up so much and people are starting to realize that most people aren’t safe without protection and that where guns come into the story.
Many believe that guns are for protection. Guns are used to help defend people against criminals, and other situations that may occur. States that have passed concealed carry laws have reduces their crime rate, rape, aggravated assaults, robbery, and etc. The argument that most people advocate is that guns are not the cause of the problem, the person wielding the weapon is. It is said that only criminals harm others using guns, and most gun tragedies are made by everyday citizens that go through background checks, pay fees to eventually get a gun license.
In October 2017, a man barricaded himself in a hotel room with an arsenal of 23 firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition and opened fire on the crowd below, killing 58 people and injuring 500 more in this country’s deadliest mass shooting (Yan, Park, & Simon, 2017). The deaths of so many innocent people propelled gun control into a fierce national debate once again. Horrified, Americans watched the parade of victims’ pictures on the news and wondered how this happened. Analysis and debate of gun violence centers around politics. Rarely is there discussion of the impact firearms have on our lives, health, and economy.
This makes us wonder why people can be so defensive over something like a gun that is so dangerous and has lead to a lot of deaths in the American society. Gun control is essential in our society today because it will help prevent unnecessary shootings and crime rate Gun control will play a major part in the decrease of the crime and murder rate. Therefore, in my point of view, guns should be totally controlled and regulated by the government. If gun ownership is controlled by the government, only a limited number of people will be allowed to own guns. In addition, the regulations will make it difficult for people to access guns unless they have a concrete reason as to why they need the weapon.
Many anti-gun groups say since 1970 the number of firearms has increased, but forget to say that no murder rates have increased, the proportion of people who did have guns are dropped from 49 percent to 40 percent, but violent crimes rise and fall, so, the number of gun owners has no influence on whether crimes rise or fall. Another report says that every 43 deaths provoked by a gun is more likely to kill a relative than a criminal, but they tend to forget that 86 percent (37 deaths) of 43 deaths, were suicides. The ¨Gun War¨ has been going on for years, everyone has a different view of how weapons should be treated and dealt with. But since the beginning of this country, we have the right to keep and bare arms. There will always be people who try to get rid of guns, and there will always be people who defend guns.
Guns have been the weapon of decision for probably the most severe massacres on American soil. Since early history, firearms have been utilized mainly for militia and defense purposes. However, the development of new gun technology has made guns more accessible and deadly. In spite of the fact that the second amendment gives the right to bear, firearms should be controlled and checked by the government since weapons have contributed to a lot of killings in America and will increase crime rates.
“Half of the casualties occurred during a nine-hour stretch from Saturday evening to early yesterday”, according to police. Among the dead: a 7-year-old boy killed outside his home shortly before midnight on Saturday. “Amari Brown was hit by a bullet ‘that was meant for his father”, police tell the Chicago Sun-Times. This two case are from the thousand cases that has been recorded and it is enough for us to conclude, that having an own firearm are not a good decision but it will lead to a chaos and disturbing the peace and harmony in this country and of
