Does Bullying Link to Suicide? Bullying, suicide, and torture to the mind. But how are these factors related? Everybody has heard of some kind of bullying whether it is verbally, physically, mentally, or cyber bullying. But do we know what it does to the victims? We have a few examples given through the media. Amanda Todd, Alyssa Morgan, Ryan Patrick Halligan, and William Arthur Gibbs. We all know what happened to them. They committed suicide because of their past of bullying. Bullying can do enough to a victim. Bullying can cause emotional problems, lack in self-confidence, and suicidal thoughts. The main reason why someone would commit suicide or at least attempt is to eliminate their emotional, physical, and/or mental pain. “Suicide remains among the leading causes of death of children under 14. And in most cases, the young people die from hanging” according to Bullycide: Bullying Related Suicides. Children are more likely to see of experience bullying when they are in middle school or junior high. Because of their exposure, they are harmed in any way or form. Most of the children want it to end and they think that suicide is the answer. Bullying Suicide statistics show that 13% of students create a plan, 16% strongly consider, and 8% actual attempt. We are talking about students. These students are considering suicide. Their end of their lives because of bullies repeatedly harming them. Meghan Neal of Daily News puts it to awareness of how many students that could be. She said “nearly 1 in 6 high school students has seriously considered suicide, and 1 in 12 has attempted it.” This really puts it to perspective on how students feel about their lives after being bullied.
