One of the things that Nebraskans need to beware of is the decision that needs to be made; Should Nebraska have the Death Penalty. People have every different opinions or beliefs on this situation. My opinion is my belief. I am a proud Catholic and I am not ashamed to admit that my opinion has to do with what the Catholic Church teaches. I believe that there should not be a death penalty, unless the person cannot be contained and is a danger to citizens. I can come up with a lot reasons like negative consequences for our communities and our state, the input of the views of the catholic church, and the catholic churches simple facts to prove it wrong. People shall not put those to death, but let their life end naturally. …show more content…
According to a Catholic Mobilizing Network magazine reporter Alex Kelly, “States that have the death penalty have a higher crime rate, than states that do not have the death penalty.” This is just showing that the death penalty is unnecessary. People are going to do crime. Nebraska needs to understand that instead of ending someone’s live, we can get the criminal the help he or she needs. “The death penalty is more expensive than life without parole, which many studies have been conducted to prove so according,” says Catholic News Service. Nebraska has more important thing in our state that the money could be put towards. The money could be put towards building better roads, school lunch programs, or improving the education programs. The monthly Catholic postcard sent to priest of every church stated, that the death penalty doesn’t give a solution to root causes of the crime with in our communities. It is an unnecessary response. Nebraskan’s need to be aware of the negative side to the Death
No man is born evil, and instead are often influenced by others to commit what they do. Therefore, I state that no individual should receive the death penalty and instead, be sentenced to life in prison. If and only if the defendant has been found indisputably guilty, should he be granted the option to place the death penalty upon himself. If a criminal on death row would rather die than spend the rest of their life in prison, I believe that then and only then, must the death sentence be carried
Being on death row often prolongs the pain for the inmate. They spend their time in prison fearing the inevitable which for them is death. Today, we live in a society that is very divided on this issue. There are many in support of the death penalty, suggesting that it acts as a positive deterrent against future crime. There are also many
Presidential Election Argument Murder should not be handled with just time in prison. The issue that is most important in the upcoming presidential election would be “Should the Death Penalty Be Allowed?”. If someone came and murdered someone you loved, how would you want the murder to be charged? Maybe the taking of his or her life just as he or she took your loved one.
The death penalty is a good thing at times it gets closure to the victim's families who've suffered a loss while Justice is being served. The United States isn't the only place that that still has the death penalty for certain crimes, other nations do as well. It's very beneficial when it comes to contributing to our issue of overpopulation in the prisons. If there's a lot of overpopulation it can be very difficult when prisoner's get loose to keep them in control as well as the costs of keeping them locked up presents an issue when coming out of tax. The death penalty becomes a tool of fighting with violence against murders who've not yet committed the crime, due to the fear of death or getting caught.
Pressure to create a successful team runs high in the world of NCAA Football, often leading to immoral and illegal behavior by school programs. SMU fell victim to the pressures leading to illegal payments towards players. When discovered, the NCAA placed the "death penalty" on SMU and changed recruitment policies in an effort to cut down on abuses by colleges. SMU has forever been affected by the 1 year suspension having only 2 winning seasons since 1986-1988 (SMU Death Penalty). There actions have surely changed recruiting at the college level tremendously.
The death penalty should stay because we need it. If someone commits a crime they should take full responsibility for their actions. We do not need to keep them in jail. If they stayed in jail then they are still alive and someone innocent had to die because of their actions.
(Tucker). The practice of the death penalty reduces the number of criminal activities in society. Some of these criminal activities include murder, terrorism, and robbery. This is because criminals or potential criminals are afraid of dying. To give proof, here's some evidence…
Since the reinstatement of the federal death penalty in 1988, 75 defendants have been sentenced to death of whom 3 have been executed and 10 have been finally removed from death row, according to The Death Penalty Information Center. Given the popularity of the death penalty in present day America, it is fair to assume that there are perhaps justifications for it, though there are plenty of people who firmly oppose it. Without going into the details of any given judicial system, there are several reasons to support both sides of the argument. Capital punishment is such a powerful notion, although not all crimes are punishable by death, there are many advantages to being pro-death penalty when it applies. Death penalty costs the government less
The death penalty is and has been one of the most controversial topics debated in the United States since its birth in the seventeenth century. Dating back to colonial times, the death penalty was influenced by European settlers who brought capital punishment with them to the new world. Similar to today’s laws regarding the death penalty, the laws for capital punishment varied from colony to colony (“Introduction to the Death Penalty”). Slowly, most states in the country have eliminated this cruel practice, however, in some states the death penalty persists. Florida is one of thirty-one states where the death penalty still exists (“States with and without the Death Penalty”).

Today, I Barbara Terrell, will inform you all on why the death penalty should be abolished. My son was put to death for the 1992 murder of 70-year-old John Watson. But no hard evidence had proven he was at the scene of the crime and two testimonies were later found to be inaccurate. Yet on the 9th of December at 12:52 pm, my son took his last breath.
The major reason why the death penalty should be abolished is that the cost of the death penalty is too much and the USA is in debt to many other countries. What this means is that the death penalty should be abolished and also the cost death penalty is more than the cost of maximum sentence life in prison. According to J. Marceau and H. Whitson, “The Cost of Colorado’s Death penalty,” 3 Univ. of Denver Criminal Law Review “A new study of the cost of the death penalty in Colorado revealed that capital proceedings require six times more days in court and

Patients who have life threatening conditions usually choose to die quickly with the help of their physicians. Many people question this right because of its inhumane authority. Euthanasia or assisted suicide are done by physicians to end the lives of their patients only in Oregon, Washington, Vermont, Montana, New Mexico and soon California that have the Right to Die so that patients don’t have to live with depression, cancer and immobility would rather die quick in peace.
Death Penalty According to the 2010 Gallup Poll, 64% of the United State of America are supporting the death penalty, I as an American am part of that 36% that is against it. I do not believe that we as human being should determine whether another person should live or die. A second reason that I am against the death penalty is for the reason that the accused person could be innocent and normally the accused person only has one court presentation and is only judged by the judge not a jury of their peer, and is sent to death row where they pay for a crime that they haven’t done. My final reason that i do not believe that the death penalty should count as a punishment for the American people is because, a person that has done a massive massacre shouldn’t just be able to leave the world just like that without paying and suffering for what they have done, Or should the death punishment continue as it is for it has a great benefit to us as citizens of the United States.
Capital Punishment is the death penalty for those who commit murder. The thought behind this punishment is a life for a life. There has been debate on if the death penalty is right or wrong.
