Is Abortion Acceptable?
Many people, especially Republicans who believe that: "The unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed. We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and we endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment's protections apply to unborn children”, believe that free choice on abortion is wrong, and should be illegal. I on the other hand, political views aside, believe that abortion should always be available to women who are not ready for children or to be mothers. Abortion is a very necessary procedure for young women who have either, been impregnated against their wishes, or are not at all ready to take on the responsibilities of a parent. If we make abortion

Approximately 1 million women had abortions annually until the 1973 decision legalizing abortion, and abortion had become the leading cause of maternal death and mutilation (40 deaths/100,000 abortions compared to 40 deaths/100,000 live births according to National Abortion Rights Action league.) An estimated 9000 rape victims become pregnant each year (FBI 1973); 100,000 cases of incest occur yearly (National Center for Child Abuse and Neglect, 1978). Two-thirds of teenage pregnancies are not planned, because many do not have adequate access to contraceptives (NARAL). And the taxpayer price of supporting a child on welfare is far greater than that of a Medicaid abortion. But the issue that provokes such anger surrounds the fetus's right to life--its status as a potential human being. Anti-abortionist proponents usually take the position that conception is life and therefore abortion is murder and violates the rights of the unborn, or that there is an inherent value in life and abortion is murder because it destroys that …show more content…
However, this is not entirely true. Paying taxes will still be necessary to provide the mother and baby proper housing, clothing, food, health care. Tell me, do we think we pay more to allow women unready to have children to have an abortion, or for the welfare needed to provide the mother and child with proper life necessities for the next… Oh I don’t know… Ten to eighteen years? 2. “When people talk about "defunding" Planned Parenthood, what they mean is that they want Medicaid, an insurance program for low-income or elderly people, to stop reimbursing Planned Parenthood for patients who use their services — like PAP smears and prenatal care. Remember, in accordance with the Hyde Amendment, federal funds, such as Medicaid reimbursements, can't go to abortion services unless it is in the case of rape, incest, or to save the life of the
Abortion has always been a controversial topic, and with debates from the recent presidential election bringing abortion back into the spotlight, it is clear that people have varying views as well as a great misunderstanding of abortion. Often, the morality of such action is widely discussed, and stones are quickly thrown. I believe that abortion should be legally and safely obtainable in all cases for women who feel it is the best path to take in their pregnancy. While abortion is currently legal in all 50 states, some lawmakers are working to make abortions virtually unobtainable. For example, in Ohio, a heartbeat bill sat on the desk of Governor Kasich.
This includes abortions, birth control, STD/STI treatment, sexual education, pregnancy help, and overall health and wellness. Many are against the organization because it is commonly associated with the abortions it performs, but it has a lot more to offer as stated in the former. The federal government mostly funds Planned Parenthood through Medicaid Reimbursements, but many want to end this because of the abortion issue. I believe that the federal government should fund Planned Parenthood because they provide a plethora of services that are beneficial to all women, and even men. To define the organization would strip away sexual education, and easily accessible sexual health care for millions of Americans which are detrimental.
Abortion serves as an alternative to those who face the highest costs of bearing and raising children like young women who have not finished school yet, couples who face the expectation of a child that will have severe physical complications, contraceptive failure, and those who are poor or are not able to afford children, especially, in the event that these children will be raised by a single parent. Abortion as a legal business emerged following the Supreme Court’s, Roe v. Wade, decision to constitutionalize abortion in 1973. Since the Supreme Court ruling of Roe v. Wade, the market for abortion has become an important part of America’s economy. For years following those decisions, abortion opponents have attacked patients, passing laws that restrict abortion access. Some of those laws include: requiring parental involvement in a minor’s decision to have an
Planned Parenthood is a topic that is continuously discussed in correlation with the concept of money as many believe that it “...emphasizes abortions instead of preventative care” (Attira). Because of birthrights, abortions, and the controversy that surrounds such issues, many individuals believe that the government should not be responsible for providing funding. Therefore, actually defunding Planned Parenthood is often brought up as a solution to the highly-debated consensus of government-funded healthcare services. Although many believe that creating a barrier between opinion and action is a positive push, actually defunding the program would be more catastrophic than perceived. Defunding Planned Parenthood would mean blocking and preventing individuals from receiving the health care that they are reliant on.
Not only are these arguments void given the Hyde amendment prohibits federal funds to be used for abortion, but also insignificant in comparison to the health benefits Planned Parenthood provides. Regardless of opposing arguments, Planned Parenthood must not be defunded due to its essential services regarding sexual and reproductive health care. Although this means that some groups and individuals will have to pay taxes that contribute to something they morally oppose, it is overall beneficial to protect the collective health of the
Despite the numerous accusations that the organization has faced in the past years, Planned Parenthood and other similar groups may have been providing an effective means on educating and making available the use of protection and prevention of unwanted pregnancies. This is demonstrated by numbers released that in 2014, abortion rates in the United States have dropped to a record low of 14.6 per 1000 since 1973. US women are having abortions at the lowest rate on record since Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court’s landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion. In fact, the rate has been steadily declining over the past three decades from its peak in the 1980’s.
On one side of the argument people believe that it 's wrong to kill an unborn child because all life is important regardless of if there born or not. Often the people who are “pro life” are also Christian or belong to another
Abortion is full of excuses, going against God’s will, and murder. America should reconsider the laws and regulations of the countries soon to be mothers. Because abortion is a deliberate termination of a human life, women should not legally have the option to choose one. Making excuses for reasons a mother can kill her baby is wrong. For example, a mother having a baby she doesn’t want is no excuse to end a life.
Before Roe v. wade the number of deaths from illegal abortions was around 5000 and in the 50s and 60s the number of illegal abortions ranged from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year. These illegal abortions pose major health risks to the life of the woman including damage to the bladder, intestines as well as rupturing of the uterus. The choice to become a mother must be given to the woman most importantly because it’s her body, her health, and she will be taking on a great responsibility. A woman’s choice to choose abortion should not be restricted by anyone; there are multiple reasons why abortion will be the more sensible decision for the female.
Some women disagree with the idea, while others agree. Some religions believe it is a sin to have an abortion. Abortion
Worldwide, 42 million abortions occur every year, 20 million of which happen on unsafe terms (Haddad and Nour 122). As of late, abortion incidence has begun to decrease due to the creation and distribution of contraceptive medications, as this resulted in fewer unintended pregnancies. However, the overall number of unsafe abortions has remained the same, making the proportion of unsafe to safe terminations greater as time goes on (Sedgh et al. 629). This trend is especially evident in the United States, and does not appear to be ending soon; the epidemic of unsafe abortion in America will only continue to increase under current conditions. In this essay, I will use research conducted on the United States’ legislations to examine how the lack
Abortion Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by abolishing a fetus or embryo before it can survive outside the uterus. Abortion is a very controversial topic, for example, one side of this topic believes abortion is cruel and committing murder, while the other side believes that since the fetus or embryo isn 't developed enough to be considered a living human being yet, that abortion is not commiting murder. Despite this information, there is a lot more to abortion than the opinion of it being “right” or “wrong”. According to “Students for life” who are pro life, about 1 million abortions are executed each year in the US. That data adds up to 22% of pregnancies ending in abortion.
Everyone has a side to abortion from politics to democrats, people in religions to people with no religions, the people having the baby to someone who never had a baby before; everyone sees a different side to it. My believe on abortion is it should be Illegal because it kills innocent lives. Abortion is killing over thousand of innocent
We have our own decision to make, and this should not be demanded forcibly by anyone. Abortion is the only key to help victims from raping, and this must be legalised to set them free from a sense of mortification, accusation, and tribulation. The term rape is the crime typically committed by a man, of forcing another person to have sexual intercourse with the offender against their consent. The point
(Tanner) Pro-choice defenders also say that it is the woman 's right to choose to have the baby or not, forgetting the baby 's rights. The life of a human being begins at the moment of conception, and it is not the fetus´s fault if the mother wasn 't ready to have a baby or if the situation in which baby was conceived wasn 't ideal. For example, if the baby is conceived by rape, the baby should not pay the consequences of other people, he or she has not done anything wrong .”Compassion for the mothers is extremely important, but it is never
