There are many reasons why nurses return to college to get their BSN degree. Some return to meet a personal goal others return for professional advancement or are mandated by their employer to do so. Until I decided to go to Lenape, I had not had any plans for what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. When I learned I could graduate as a Certified Nurse Assistant, I was interested immediately. However, I knew I wanted to accomplish more than that. I love learning and I have a lot of empathy so I knew healthcare would be a perfect match for me.

Throughout the last three years, I have worked with the elderly in a nursing home called Aase Haugen as a certified nursing assistant. Since then, I have gained a tremendous amount of respect for registered nurses. Their leadership, passion, and commitment has inspired me to provide great health care to patients now and in my future career as a nurse. I am currently a freshman that has been accepted into the nursing program at Luther College.
