I have chosen astronomy. I chose this career because I have always been interested in the stars and planets. There are many things that appeal to me about this career such as the way the stars look at night and how colorful nebulas are. I have always been really fascinated with space and when i went to NASA i got to see a lot of different things about space, stars, and nebulas. You should have the ability to solve complex problems, conduct research and accurately analyze data. Also, you should have strong math and science skills, the ability to work within a team, and have knowledge of specific science-related software programs (study.com). I am suited for this career because i am a very quick learner when it comes to science. Also, I can convey information very well and use critical thinking to solve major problems. There are a few related occupations to being an astronomer, for example, there are natural science managers which plan or coordinate activities in fields such as life sciences, physical sciences, and mathematics, to name a few. Also, another related occupation is a physics teacher, they teach the laws of matter and energy. However, the salary of someone with the title astronomer may very depending on a number of things such as, industry, company size, location, years of experience, and their level of education(Salary.com). The higher level of education that you have the better job you will get which means that you will get a higher pay. Also, different states have different hourly wages for astronomers.
