As I grow older and am slowly approaching adulthood I have to start thinking about what career I want to pursue. College can be an essential thing and a advantage for when looking at a job. After I am done with college I want to become a music executive. Becoming a music Executive is an important role in my life. I say this because I will achieve this goal. Having experience is very important when it comes to working in this kind of job. Music executives are also in charge of A&R, contracts, management, publishing, production, manufacture, marketing/promotion, distribution, copyright, and touring. Whether it be in music or business it is good to have that kind of knowledge. I say this because the music industry can be a hard thing to comprehend and get the hang of. It is good you have an education when it comes to this career choice. It’s not required but I believe you should finish college to pursue this career. Without that kind of education you will be lost and not handle the music business well. The good thing is that as stated before I have experience in this sort of field. I volunteer at my cousins record label called ‘Gifted Ppl”. I work there over the summer and help out during school weeks. When I work there we try to find new artists for them to sign. I have a good ear so I know talent when I hear it. Music Executives work in multiples settings. They can work for big record labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony entertainment or Warner Music Group. But many music executives choose to work or start their own record label. For example Bad Boy Records was started off by P. Diddy and Roc-a-fella records was started off by Damon Dash and Jay-Z. All three of these men are are still music executives today. These are all important factors of becoming a music
1.Description and history of the company. According to the Company (n.d.), Capital Christian Music Group was founded in February 1976 by a Christian music pioneer Billy Ray Hearn. Mr. Hearn graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Church Music; his career began as a church music minister prior to accepting his job with Word Records in 1968 in Waco, Texas.
This point is made relevant by a number of successful people who are known worldwide for their tremendous endeavors in whatever they do. My first example is the well-known actor and musician, Will Smith who has been successful in both the music and film industry. Will Smith first started off in music then later joined the film industry. He has won four Grammy awards and is also on the Forbes list despite not attending college at all (Sanchez 1). Smith’s SAT grades were very high and qualified him to join college but he did not join college as he wanted to pursue his talent in rap which clearly paid off.
Biopic is a term used as a definition of a person’s real life event that has been recreated either into a film, movie and/or documentary, in order to tell the truth and history about what that particular celebrity was really like. A music biopic, however, must declare its truthfulness throughout a particular film in order for it to be authentic and as a source of pleasure to the audience/viewer. The 2004 film “Ray” directed by Taylor Hackford is an example of a music biopic in which Lee Marshall and Isabel Kongsguaard had stated in the above quote. Ray is a particular film that was a “major [in] American productions and was one of the most successful music biopics to date.” (Marshall and Kongsguaard, 349)
Musical Theater has many positive benefits for people, no matter how they are involved. There are many ways to be involved in musical theater, and they all have some type of affect on people 's lives. There is light and sound crew, who climb high into the rafters to use lights and learn to use complicated sound boards and make sure everyone is seen and heard. There is the set designers, who use their artistic talents to create all the sets and backgrounds for a musical.
Atlantic Records ties in with Tom Dowd who was a music producer for Atlantic Records. He was very smart and attended Columbia University at ages fourteen! The last two
Most of the time students of that major have to be able to be as thrifty as they can with the degree that they do have. However, in the past few years, multiple people have tried to prove to future students of the careers that they are able to do with their tuition; some of which include: art therapist (art degree), director (film/theater), professional stage manager (film degree), music therapist (music degree), or a choral director (music degree). It is because of this belief that schools have experienced a large decrease in attendance in students as most people believe. The reality is that there has actually been an increase in attendance of students in arts programs in recent years. In fact, according to a study done by the Oxford University, attendance has gone up by twenty percent since 1990.
It is also very important to have up-to-date knowledge of the film industry itself. This ranges from understanding filmmaking techniques, working collaboratively with others, knowing the equipment that is being used, learning how to conduct yourself professionally and leading a team in the process. As mentioned previously, there are any formal requirements but it is beneficial to earn a bachelor 's or higher in the fields of journalism, film, communication, acting, arts management or a similar track. 3. “Arts management? Is that even a real job?” When the people I encounter each day ask me what I will be majoring in, many of their faces scrunch with confusion while they politely try to tell me that arts management cannot possibly be a sound career path if they do not know what it is. Embarking on such an obscure career path has made my journey to applying to college more difficult than expected. I have always known that I wanted a bachelor’s degree that would lead me on the path towards being in the business of the arts.
Choosing a career is a hard thing to do for a young adult nowadays because there are so many to choose from. If you want to be a band teacher (One why? Teachers are important I know that but really a band teacher you’d be teaching whiny kids in a confined space for seven hours. But I can’t judge I was the one who made this.)
Being a bass play professionally is a difficult thing to do. Being signed with a label would make you plenty of money; but, see the problem is that signing with a record label is actually hard to get done. You have to be in a band or a very good solo player. Then the band or you has to be seeing my a label company. From there they have to think you’re good enough or that you’ll make them enough money to be signed over.
In this book David Hooper explains the entire breakdown of the music business. Chapter 1 of his book starts off by discussing Commitment. Making the commitment to do what it takes to be successful in the music business consists of two decisions: Acknowledging that you and you alone, are responsible for your music business success, because you are the one making the choice to do something or not do it (Hooper, 2013). Recognizing that every decision you make, even the small ones, is either getting you closer to your music business goals or taking you further away (Hooper, 2013).

Music producing is very important to the music industry because without music producers there wouldn’t be the music we listen today because artists don’t just come up with the music they need their right hand in crime and that’s their music producer.
