In our report, we will be discussing the development of Canasnack specifically as well as space food in general.
1. A brief history of your project or technology;
While research of space food, in general, has been conducting for many years, In 2007, the CSA created their own first space cookie named Canasnack with Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) to be used by Nasa and ISS. It met all the known requirements for space food and represented Canada by using Canadian flavours, such as maple, berries and honey. They first put this into use for astronauts on Shuttle Mission STS-118 also in 2007. The crew members later reported success in taste for this cookie, which is an accomplishment because space food generally doesn 't taste good since weightlessness in space can cause all body fluids to circulate to the head which dulls taste sensors.
2. What the project/technology is designed to do; space food is designed to make sure astronauts can eat and stay healthy in space, be preserved under the conditions of space and not disrupt the space shuttle’s mechanisms. Since there is no gravity in space, the space food has to be put into airlocked bags because if they weren 't, they would float around and spread crumbs, likely ending up in space shuttles system and they could break or ruin something on …show more content…

NASA licenses lots of space-age technologies and connects with the private section through business-to-business partnerships for the creation of different products that improve lives on Earth.there are some advances in food packaging, preservation, preparation and nutrition for the challenges of space.
