In our report, we will be discussing the development of Canasnack specifically as well as space food in general.
1. A brief history of your project or technology;
While research of space food, in general, has been conducting for many years, In 2007, the CSA created their own first space cookie named Canasnack with Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) to be used by Nasa and ISS. It met all the known requirements for space food and represented Canada by using Canadian flavours, such as maple, berries and honey. They first put this into use for astronauts on Shuttle Mission STS-118 also in 2007. The crew members later reported success in taste for this cookie, which is an accomplishment because space food generally doesn 't taste good since weightlessness in space can cause all body fluids to circulate to the head which dulls taste sensors.
2. What the project/technology is designed to do; space food is designed to make sure astronauts can eat and stay healthy in space, be preserved under the conditions of space and not disrupt the space shuttle’s mechanisms. Since there is no gravity in space, the space food has to be put into airlocked bags because if they weren 't, they would float around and spread crumbs, likely ending up in space shuttles system and they could break or ruin something on

This item would have been made in Cortland, NY. This type of food cover was made to protect food and to keep away bugs, and other pests. In the short story “Star Food” by Ethan Canin; Dade ,the main character, is plagued by his own curiosity. In the past his mother and father have been at odds as to what Dade should do with his time. When the story progresses Dade’s mother urges him to make a discovery whilst laying on the roof of their grocery store. On the other hand, his father urges hard-working values so that he can achieve a good life. In the short story, by Ethan Canin, “Star Food,” a boy named Dade is faced with struggles with his parents that have different points of views as his mother is an optimistic woman that wants Dade to keep dreaming. On the other hand, Dade’s father who is a realist wants Dade to carry the name and own Star Food after his father, he also wants Dade to work in store efficiently. They both wanted different things for his future, but everything changes when a poor, thieving woman enters their lives and steals from their store. The biggest question in “Star Food” is why Dade let the woman go. I believe Dade let the woman go because he felt like he wasn’t cut out for the life his father lived, and wanted to be more distinct than his strict father.

Insomnia Cookies is another well known cookie company. They sell ice cream, baked goods, & merch, including vegan and gluten-free options with most locations being open till 3 AM daily. Crumbl’s targets are families and a younger audience.
However it doesn’t have a large impact on the food industry as such as consumers need to purchase food in order to survive. Although they may decrease quantity of foods they choose to buy, they are still willing to purchase basic foods that will sustain their health. Consumers are more likely during an economic downfall to spend their money on foods they require rather than want. The company as a result obtains an advantage from its competitors as they produce long lasting food options, which allows consumer’s to save during tough times. This highlights an opportunity for the company as they produce healthier and simple food varieties which many customers desire.
In 1954 TV dinners were introduced, which became an instant phenomenon that is still prevalent to this day. One year later, McDonalds open their doors officially creating the new “fast food” trend. The concept of fast food became a huge success and in its wake created an extremely successful frozen food industry. Thanks to the frozen food industry, meals became easy and convenient. Bacon’s rebellion was a rebellion in Virginia against Governor William Berkeley for his failure to address the colonists safety. The Little ice age was a very religious time for the settlers, who thought they were being punished by God. Puritan control of the church and state led people to believe that men were superior and women were evil beings. The witch trials of 1692 were not only motivated by the stringent restrictions of the Puritan faith, but also by the misogynistic social structure that provoked mass hysteria among the sexes.

He opened my eyes to information I wouldn’t have thought about or researched myself. The food industry is expected to grow rapidly in the future due to improving lifestyle and rapid urbanization (“Global Fast Food Market”, 2017). With this potential demand created, KHC can easily capitalize the growing foodservice industry and tailor their products to the specific demographic (Bhasin, 2018). Another strong resource KHC can utilize is focusing on nutritious products. As the foodservice industry continues to grow, KHC should further explore on expanding its product portfolio to include healthier options. Natural and organic brands, as well, as small labels buying from local farms, have become an essential part of the consumer lifestyle (Tarkan, 2015).
