The jury took 10 hours and 40 minutes to deliver a not guilty verdict to the charges of first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter of a child, and aggravated child abuse (3). Casey Anthony was found guilty of four counts of providing false information to law enforcement and check forgery (6). I personally don’t agree with the jury’s verdict. There is a lot of evidence pointing to the fact that Casey killed Caylee. First, she didn’t report Caylee missing and lied to her parents on her whereabouts. Casey also lied about leaving Caylee with a babysitter who was never Caylee’s nanny. On top of all the lying that Casey Anthony did to the investigators, the cadaver dogs found the scent of decomposition in Casey Anthony’s trunk and in the backyard …show more content…
Looking at the time stamps from the searches, they were consistent with the times Casey was home. Cynthia tried to say that it was her performing the searches but she was at work at the time of the searches. Casey was a “party girl”. She was constantly going out and leaving Caylee with her parents so she could be care free. “Inmate Robyn Adams, with whom Anthony exchanged 50 letters while incarcerated, told investigators that Casey Anthony told her that she sometimes used "stuff" to put her daughter to sleep” (9). Even though, this can be considered hearsay, the evidence is in these letters and this inmates testimony. I feel that it would have helped the prosecutions case if they had Casey talk to a psychologist. This would have helped form a profile on Casey as a sociopath and a compulsive liar. “If [the jury] did not see in the photographs of how Caylee was found what we saw, and what other people see, then that's …show more content…
"I have never been able to figure out a reason why somebody would cover up an accident by putting pieces of duct tape over the nose and mouth of a child and then dumping them in a swamp. When children die by accident, people call for help. That's how it works in the real world. In the fictional world that may be different. But in the real world, people want their child to live and Casey clearly didn't. Every action she took showed that” (10). Throughout the entire investigation, the evidence was all there but the way it was presented in trial and the way the defense attacked it added a lot of doubt into the jury’s mind and that is what caused them to deliver the not guilty verdict.
This case is considered a controversial case. There are a few factors that causes it to be considered controversial. First, was the jury selection. The selection took both sides a few days to determine. There were multiple jurors who were excluded for talking to the media regarding their opinions of the case before the trial. “On Monday, the parties heard from a middle-age options trader with two kids and a bad back. Juror 3397 said he recalls not having "any doubt that she
This family was filled with lies, denial and and the need to please. From a young age Casey was raped by her father at young age and it was never acknowledge by the family because they had an image to uphold in the white picket fence community they lived in and people feel this was reflected in the death f Caylee, “The defense claims that Caylee died by an accidental drowning in the family pool and then the body was hidden to cover up secrets. One of the secrets claimed by the defense was that Casey, from the age of eight, was sexually molested by her father and there was attempted sexual abuse by Casey's brother” ( McBride). Her family was known to be a functional one people within their communities where the lived never knew that Casey was being harmed and the years of her being abused reflect on Caylee’s death. These issues were reflected because Casey may have been told not to report it just like she was told not to tell anyone of the horrendous things her father would do to her and what her brother tried to do to her.
She stated to her parents that she didn’t have any idea where her little girl could be. Casey also stated numerous of times that her two-year old daughter was with “nannies” or babysitters (Bay News, 2008.) July 13, 2008, Casey’s parents received a letter stating that Casey’s car
In addition to that, Jim Solomon’s, A spokes person said that a utility person found the body at 9:32 AM in a forest-y area less than 1/2 a mile away from Casey’s household. Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Solomons said that a utility worker found the body at 9:32 a.m. EST Thursday in a wooded area less than half of a mile from the house Caylee lived in with her grandparents and mother. This meaning, Casey could have easily hid the body after the murder. Lastly, Investigators found duct tape, and suspected Casey killed Caylee by taping over her mouth and nose. Casey is then charged with first degree murder, but was acquitted of them.
She used a nanny co-workers. About anyone she could be questioned about there was pretty much a lie or a cover up on it. Knowing Casey there was a lie for everything, her parents even described her as non-truthful. Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, had been the nanny of Caylee Anthony for almost 2 years. Zenaida or Zanny, was suspiciously reported to have kidnapped Caylee.
I agree that the jury made the best decision in this case. Despite the media coverage, I’m sure it was difficult for
When asking her daughter, Casey, where Caylee was she made many different excuses before finally admitting that she had not seen Caylee in weeks. Police suspected that Casey was responsible for the death of Caylee and after an investigation, Casey was charged

Casey Anthony “Smell of Death” In the summer of 2008, Casey Anthony daughter Caylee Anthony was last seen on June 16, 2008. No one knows where she was nor did Casey report that her daughter was missing. Time went by with no sign of Caylee reappearing. Casey’s mother called and reported that her granddaughter was missing and that Casey’s car smelled like a dead body had been in there.
When police investigators searched through her records and computer history, they found something odd, her history consisted of searches like “How to make chloroform” and “Neck breaking” so why would she look this stuff up for no intentions? What’s worse is that, large amounts of chloroform appeared to be found in Casey’s car, the evidence is all there, yet she was found not guilty! This is absurd. When George, (Caylee’s father) received a notice that his car was being towed, he noticed

Throughout the play there is a great plenty of suspense between the jurors since they could not come up with one unanimous decision on whether to pronounce the prosecutor of guilty or not. As mentioned in the play by the foreman there was a lot of arguing between the jurors, “All right, let’s stop all this arguing. We’re wasting time here,” (Rose 18) this line is a clear example that emphasizes that there was a lot of biases which lead to
The prosecution believed that Casey Anthony chloroformed Caylee leading to her death. Casey then drove around with Caylee’s deceased body in the back of her car for days until it ran out of gas and she left it abandoned on the side of a road. Casey then dumped Caylee’s body in the woods 15 houses from the Anthony home for the duration on the summer until the body was found in December 2008. The prosecution also found evidence that they believe collaborates Casey knew that Caylee was deceased by the fact that Casey got a tattoo just days after Caylee went missing on her shoulder that said “Bella Vita” which means “Beautiful Life” in Italian on July 2nd, 2008.
According to NBC News reporter Elisabeth Chuck, in “Casey Anthony Breaks Silence,”: ‘Obviously, I didn’t kill my daughter,’ Jose Baez, Casey’s attorney, said that Casey did not report her daughter missing because, “Caylee had accidentally drowned in the Anthony family’s pool, and she feared being accused of intentionally killing the toddler.” It was later shown that there was no evidence to support that theory. After Casey told her mother and brother about the kidnapping, Cindy told the police that her granddaughter had been kidnapped and she needed their help. On July 16, 2008 in Orlando, Florida Casey Anthony was arrested for child neglect, giving false statements, and
On May 25, 2010 Casey Anthony 's lawyer states to the court and jury that Caylee was unintentionally drowned in the swimming pool of their home , and that Casey and her father had cover it up. The prosecution presented that Casey Anthony did research on chloroform at her home computer but her mother Cindy Anthony 's asserted that it was her that made the searches that implicated her daughter but the records showed that Cindy Anthony was at work when these searches were done. On July 5, the jury found Casey not guilty of first degree murder but she was found guilty on four misdemeanors because she provided false material to a law enforcement officers.
This is an important element when deciding who the best and worst jurors were. There were no facts as to who was right or wrong because we didn’t see the crime in question. All
