The Sainte-Chapelle is a royal medieval 13th-century Gothic chapel, located near the Palais de la Cité, on the Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris, France. It was built by Louis IX for use as his royal chapel. Sainte-Chapelle was founded by King Louis IX. He constructed it as a chapel for a royal palace and to help him survive during this time period. The palace itself has been removed, leaving just the chapelle. Louis, in 1239, purchased the chapelle for 135,000. The entire chapel cost 40,000 livres to build. Sainte-Chapelle was planned in 1241, started in 1246 and quickly completed: it was finished on April 26, 1248. During the French Revolution, the chapel was changed into an administrative office, and the windows had filing cabinets.
The palace took twenty-seven years to build but this was important for France because of its many uses. This palace had many purposes, one of them being the center of government. Louis centralizing the government gave him more control over it and made it more organized. Because Paris was constantly being attacked, they purposely built it a safe distance from the city. As well as setting this palace as the center of France, Louis also invited playwrights, poets, and artists to come to this palace in order to create a center of culture for the country.
Versailles- This was originally a hunting lodge. Versailles developed in the 17th century, and built by Louis XIII, and later inherited by Louis XIV. This also was the place where the French Revolution took place at the palace. 6.

The Bruton Parish is an amazing church. The Bruton Parish is truly an inconceivable church. It was an important storehouse for the Revolution.
Versailles I. “You gaze, and stare, and try to understand…” quoted Mark Twain. The vast architecture of Versailles has silenced many with its history and astonishing views. Many see the beauty of the castle today and can hardly imagine the troubled land that was once there. Like Saint-Simon who saw Versailles before its growth, he said Versailles is” the gloomiest, most thankless place without a view.” It all started as a small cottage constructed by King Louis XIII in 1623.
In high school I was able to choose an elective that had great appeal to me- Chicano Studies. This was a new course at my high school, it was providential for me that the course became available because of the large impact it had on my life. In this course we studied, the history of Mexico and its influence on current culture, past civil rights leaders, and the topic that struck me the most, current events. Our teacher, Mr. Pisano, expressed his alacrity to teach the course to the administration at our high school, and with appeal he was able to teach one section of the course.
The Chicano movement derives from early oppression of Mexicans. Robert Rodrigo, author of “The Origins and History of the Chicano Movement” acknowledges that, “At the end of the Mexican American war in 1848, Mexico lost half of its territory to the United States and its Mexican residents became ‘strangers in their own lands.’” In stating this fact, Rodrigo exemplifies the United States’ relations with Mexico, that, ultimately, led to their oppression. Moreover, these early relations led to social injustice for the Mexican community. It seems as though race is not a substantial issue in the world today like it used to be. Everyone has a different background from where they come from and an ethnicity. Chicanos, Hispanics, Latinos, Mexican Americans whatever you wanna call them. They 're just people, right? Around the 1960s, many individuals in this group were faced with difficult issues throughout their lives.
The relationship between Chicanos and Central Americans is a unique one because there is often a misconception and racialization that Central Americans and Chicano are one in the same based on physical characteristics and the way their cultures have intertwined. As Alvarado mention in her article, mutual misrepresentation both groups have not been able to fully represent themselves as either Chicano/Chicana or Central American or perhaps a mixture of both. Both Chicanos and Central Americans for years have occupied the same places and have very similar customs leading to the generalization that all brown people are Mexican or of Mexican descent. On the other hand, co-cultures also promote their own set of values which could easily shape our ideas about certain matters as well. These components are a part of how we perceive ourselves and how others perceive too. Growing in a Mexican household allowed me to be exposed to more family orientated events that included music, food and dancing.

Annually, millions of people travel to northern France to view the grand and pompous Baroque style of the Palace of Versailles’s Hall of Mirrors. Built in 1698 during the reign of Louis XIV, the Palace of Versailles stood for over 100 years as “the primary residence of the kings of France and the seat of the government,” and in 1979, the Palace of Versailles and its gardens were decreed a World Heritage site by the UNESCO. An examination of the Palace’s Hall of Mirrors will reveal a dramatic use of light, symmetry, large-scale frescoes, a shell for painting, sculpture, and stucco, and an opulent use of rich color and accessories common to a French Baroque-style interior. Louis XII (r. 1610 - 1643) used the initial residence as a hunting lodge and retreat for his family, and in 1624, he commissioned Jacques Lemercier to build a chateau on the site, which remains as “the exterior façade overlooking the Marble Court.” From 1661 to 1710, Louis XIV oversaw the residential transformation of the majestic complex surrounded by gardens.
The Pantheon was first built with a rectangular plan but when Hadrian came in 125AD and rebuilt it, he added a dome. Currently, the Pantheon is used as both a church and also a historical heritage site. On the other hand, the Brunelleschi 's Dome is part of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, and it is one of the biggest churches in Florence which is in Italy (Mainstone, 1997). Notre Dame du Haut The Chapel of Notre-Dame du Haut located in Ronchamp, France is a prime example of the architecture done by Franco-Swiss architect Le Corbusier. Captured in this photo are all the abnormalities of the exterior of the chapel and obscure design choices conceived by Le Corbusier. With the previous chapel being completely destroyed in World War II, Corbusier decided to take a more sculptural approach in the redesign of the structure, this photo really highlights its obscurities through the focus of its untraditional lines and shapes found on the chapel. Note, the very large curved lines that make up the roof were placed in the middle for emphasis, showing that it is not your traditional chapel.
