The world’s expanding level of globalization demands for increased interaction among individuals from a diverse spectrum of backgrounds. It is this globalization that makes maximizing and capitalizing on workplace diversity a significant component of economic success for companies. With society’s increasing demand for inclusiveness and diversity in all aspects of everyday life, a job as a chief diversity officer grows more valuable. An entry-level position in this career, known as a diversity manager, starts off with a starting salary of about $50,000 and a median salary of $75,000. With added experience and increased education, an individual entering a position as a chief diversity officer can expect to earn a median salary of about $120,000 while more experienced workers can earn a maximum $240,000. So essentially, the investment one would put down to obtain an advanced degree in a social science field would eventually be paid off by the salary they would make if they managed to obtain a position as a diversity officer.
