Zombies may not be crawling out of their graves just yet, but they are certainly consuming the minds of many people across the nation. Some news stations have released reports about strange instances where people have been known to behave like zombies and attack others. Sure they may have been under the influences of specific drugs, but it makes one think about whether or not the zombie apocalypse could really happen. In the article “My Zombie, Myself: Why Modern Life Feels Rather Undead” Chuck Klosterman chooses to depict a notion of how zombies may already be walking the Earth. They face numerous obstacles within their path which they must vanquish. Each of these obstacles growing in difficulty as time progresses. This can be compared to the modern day work life which Klosterman discusses. Theoretically speaking, the longer one works, the harder ones work will become. The average worker “levels up” by accepting new jobs or positions which then delegate new tasks. But, Like Destiny, as The Guardian, or worker levels up, rewards are granted as a beneficiary program. For workers, a larger paycheck, for Guardians, a new-larger weapon. The player becoming a zombie can be reinvested as the perfect victim, one that can be killed off without much guilt or even a second glance. If the player were to die in the game, they would just be revived by their ghost and keep going until they completed their task. Klosterman argues also that it is impossible to humanize zombies at all. “You can’t add much depth to a creature who can’t talk, doesn’t think and whose only motive is the consumption of flesh. You can’t humanize a zombie, unless you make it less zombie-esque.” Destiny has challenged that idea to a certain extent. Within the game, the main characters have been known to be killed off without warning. These are the same characters to which the protagonist has worked side-by-side with from the beginning creating a close and personal relationship. But more often than not, these characters make their last appearance on screen as an in-game zombie better known as The Hive. This faction is an ancient festering evil, who has one goal which is to smuggle The Light and let The Darkness reign. Within The Hive, a sub-class of species is created better known as Thrall. These creatures are a plague to the battlefield. Their swarming, twisted frames are driven by an unfettered rage. Basically, these creatures are as close to our modern day zombie which we depict. They keep attacking
