In the history of America, there have been many killers. They are cold-hearted and ruthless. Some killers and some killings are unknown today, but more and more cases are being solved with advanced technology and forensics. The Colorado Hammer Killer, the Killer in the Valley, and Alex Murdaugh are examples of killers.
The Colorado Hammer Killer is a killer who attacked ten people. Out of the ten people attacked, four of them died. On January 4, 1984 at 2:30 a.m, Kim and Jim Haubenschild were attacked by the Colorado Hammer Killer, but they survived. Patricia Smith was the next victim on January 10, 1984. He was struck with a rock and survived. The Colorado Hammer Killer was arrested, but soon escaped on foot while being transported from the Arizona jail on August 9, 1984. He then attacks Nancy and Chris Barry with an ax handle on the same day he escaped. They both survived and the Colorado Hammer Killer was arrested again. The Colorado Hammer Killer was identified as Alex Ewing after DNA testing was done. His final conviction was on April 7, 2022 and he received four life sentences.
The Killer in the Valley is currently unknown, but the investigators are very close to solving it. The first killing happened on June 26, 1981, when a twenty-two year old woman named Kristin David vanished whilst riding on her bike from Moscow to Lewiston idaho. Her body would later be found by local fishermen in three separate garbage bags in a lake. The next victim was a twelve year old girl named Christina White. She was riding her bike to a friend's house after a fair when she vanished. On September 12, 1982, two girls vanished. Vincow was asleep in her Los Angeles home on the night of June 28, 1984, when Ramirez would sneak through her window, she’d left open. Ramirez then found Vincow and repeatedly stabbed her before slicing her throat. Throughout most of the attack, Vincow had been screaming, yet not even one of her neighbors would call the police. After cleaning up some of the blood splatter from the attack, Ramirez would ransack the house and steal what he thought was valuable. Vincows body wouldn’t be found until later that day when her son came to visit, but there was no sign or trace of who her killer was.
June 16, 2010 is the year 29 year old LaNell.l Barsock was killed in Palmdale by Larene Eleanor Austin, 33 in Lancaster, CA, after a short-term romantic relationship with the victim LaNell Barsock. The two had met on craigslist but later on Barsock ended the relationship to further things with her boyfriend. Afterwards Eleanor Austin shot Barsock in the head on June 16, 2010, she foraged a letter supposedly from Barsok breaking up with her boyfriend. Austin then presented it to police in which it was used as evidence presented in the trial. Officials cleared Barsocks boyfriend and Austin fled to Belize where she was arrested January 2012 in the Central American country of Belize after she was seen on Americas most wanted.
Their names were Betty Lou Jensen, age 16, and David Arthur Faraday, age 17. They were killed the same night on December 20, 1968 on Lake Herman Road within the city limits of Benicia. The next Victims were Cecilia Ann Shepard, age 22, and Bryan Calvin Hartnell, age 20. They were stabbed the same night on September 27, 1969 in Nappa County. Nappa County is now referred to as “Zodiac Island”.

The couple was tied up and stabbed to death. The final murder occurred on October 11, 1969 in San Francisco, California. A cab driver was shot in the head and left to die.
Dubbed the Valley Intruder or Night Stalker, Ricardo Leyva Munoz Ramirez famously known as Richard Ramirez, struck fear through the bones of many during his serial killing spree in the mid-eighties. Ramirez killed at least fourteen people in his spree while raping and torturing many more. His criminal beginnings turned to violence in June of 1984 with his first known slaying of 79-year-old Jennie Vincow. Vincow was sexually assaulted, stabbed and ultimately killed in her home. Authorities had not yet caught Ramirez after this brutal homicide, therefore he was free to continue his spree on countless more helpless victims.
Sheri Coleman and her two sons were found strangled in their bed. The person cops believed to have strangled them was Chris Coleman. Chris is the husband of Sheri and the father to the two boys, Gavin and Garrett. The same night that incident took place he found another young women to follow home. She exited the freeway and asked why he was trailing her. Her name is Si Lin Yu, he forced her way into her vehicle and shot her right off the Santa Fe freeway in Los Angeles. The police recovered bullet cases that were the same from each murder that night and ran tests. 10 days later her murdered Vincent and Maxine Zazzara in their home.
