(a) One of the most significant cause of American values leading to the Revolution was the ideas of the Enlightenment, which helped lead to the American independence. One of the major ideas of the Enlightenment, which lead to the American Revolution was that people should not believe in something just because that was how things had always been. The Enlightenment encouraged Americans to reject the ideas of monarchy and the ideas of the Enlightenment helped give Americans the idea that they should become independent. The American identity has evolved over time. During the 1700’s, the Enlightenment, also known as the Age of Reason, occurred. It spread rapidly across Europe, and then to North America. This revolutionary way of thinking was crucial to the development of the American identity. The Enlightenment was the period for cultivation of science and human reason.
In my opinion the one event that had the most significant role in causing the American Revolutionary War was the second continental congress. I believe this because the response to their resistance to new taxes, they made all decisions when and where to attack the British and how to protect themselves. They issued paper money and set up a system so where the government would borrow money from the citizens and then pay it back with interest. How did your 3 reasons lead to the Revolutionary War?
The Enlightenment and American Revolution resulted in the people believing that their government, or ruler, should protect the people’s rights, including the right to overthrow a government that fails to do so. Enlightenment thinker, John Locke, contributed considerably to the growth of the U.S. by influencing the founders in their making of the constitution, which supported John Locke’s and other Enlightenment thinkers’ ideas for government guidelines. One of the two compromises was the Great Compromise, which created a bicameral government with equally represented states in the senate and by population in the House of Representatives. The second was the Three-Fifths Compromise. The Three-Fifths Compromise served to allow the government
There were many goals that the colonists had in waging the Revolutionary War, and an innumerable amount of those goals contributed to America’s political system. A few of their goals were to convert into a country free of a king, become independent, get rid of all loyalists, equal rights between men and women, and slaves wanted to be freed. A great deal of these goals were accomplished, although they were not very easy to carry out. “The nearer any government approaches to a republic the less business there is for a king,” (Document 1). One of the colonists’ main goals was to be free of the king of England.
The taxation of representation was another main cause for the revolution. When it comes to how they won their independence they had help from France. After the French and Indian War, Britain took the unusual step of taxing the colonists for the cost of the war. Colonists had been taxed before,
The Enlightenment made American society more egalitarian, allowing people to relate to and believe that all people are equal and deserve equal opportunities and rights. The Great Awakening emphasized emotional religiosity or a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The colonists' perceptions of government and society as a whole changed as a result, and as a result, they rebelled against England. The Enlightenment emphasized logic, reason, progress, and science in its arguments. The Great Awakening argued for Christianity across social, economic, and educational divides.
They put taxes on things such as paper, sugar, and even tea, which angered the colonist because they were not will to pay tax without representation in the government. These events ultimately caused the colonist to revolt against the British monarchy and declare its independence. A revolution is a radical change in society and its social structure. The American Revolution was revolutionary because it transformed America politically and socially; however, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness weren’t necessarily improved for the all people in this revolution.
Although there are many reasons why the American Revolution started, a few of them had a larger consequence. First, the Boston Massacre had a major impact on the American Revolution. To continue, another instigator to the colonists seeking their independence was the Boston Tea Party. Lastly, The Battles of Lexington and Concord really pushed towards the American Revolution. Let us begin with how the Boston Massacre had a significant impact on the American Revolution.
The colonial period shaped America’s five founding ideals through hard work and perseverance. The first Ideal is Liberty which grants the people who live in the United States the rights to freedom. When Great Britain finally came out of war they were in debt so they decided to raise the price for taxes for the colonists. As a result the colonists protested all of them and eventually
Enlightenment was created by the English philosopher John Locke. The ideas that were influenced by enlightenment were life, liberty, and property. This also gave to the idea of natural right. Enlightenment influenced the way people finally realized that divine right wasn’t right and start to doubt it. Throughout time enlightenment has influenced a lot of important events in history.
Writing Assignment #2 Question 1: The French and Indian war was a huge influence in the American Revolution. The War caused the huge debt for the British and to help cover that debt the British began taxes on the colonist. The French and Indian War was just the top of the iceberg. Enlightenment was a concept that inspired a new way of thinking of the people. In the newly formed United States of America, enlightenment shaped the way the new government was run. Scientific reasoning was applied to politics, religion, and science. Enlightenment saved music, art, and literature programs in colleges. Enlightenment in Europe led to drastically altered views on philosophy, politics, and communications.
The cause which most likely sparked and was largely responsible for the start of the American Revolution was the Quartering Act. It was a series of laws passed that were meant to punish the British tea party. One reason this act angered them the most was that it forced every colonist to be willing to give up their homes to the British soldiers. By law, you had to provide room and board for the said soldiers- no matter where it was. Another reason that the colonist would be most angered by this series of laws is that it created divinity and privilege between the soldiers and the colonists, as they were being forced to provide for them.
