Do you think that adults should have the right to carry a concealed handgun with a license? Adults should have the right to legally carry a concealed handgun because it provides self defense. The adults carrying the weapon will be a smaller target for criminals with weapons and if the criminal still attacks, a handgun would be more effective than a knife. Also most adults support the idea of carrying a handgun legally. I also think this because if there was a criminal they couldn 't legally carry a concealed handgun anyways and citizens could also help police pinned under fire which has happened. Adults should have the right of carrying concealed handguns because when states have allowed it they have noticed sharp drop in crime. For example in Texas when they passed the right-to-carry they realized drops in violent crime such as rape. The rape rate in Texas fell …show more content…

For example on April 16, 2007 at Virginia Tech Seung-Hui-Cho, a senior at the school, shot and killed thirty- two people and wounded seventeen others in two separate attacks because the school had a gun-free area which left al of the victims defenseless. (ProCon.org 2010, April 14) Also on February 14, 2008 at Norther Illinois University Steven Kazmierczak shot twenty-two people killing five and injuring the other seventeen, all with a shotgun and and three pistols. (ProCon.org 2010, April 14) All because of the gun free areas again and the fact that these college students could not defend themselves or the police can not defend them.
