Islam started in Mecca during the time of the powerful prophet Muhammad. Through military conquest, trade, and pilgrimages, Arab Muslims forces gained vast territories over time. Muslims inherited countless costumes from Greece, Rome, and India. Also they would adopted new advances in mathematics, astronomy and Muslims. This includes Greece, Rome, and India. Their willingness and toleration of different life styles and cultures are the predominant reason for the impact that they have made on the rest of the world.

Their openness to many cultures had not only been beneficial for their empire but for many neighboring ones as well. Muslim societies were very advanced for their time. In Document 2 the text states, “Its people enjoyed a high standard of living and refinement and walked on paved streets…- all this at a time when hardly a town in Europe, Constantinople excepted, counted more than a few thousand inhabitants. Parisians and Londiners were still trudging on muddy dark alleys.” This except paints the Islamic city of Cordova as a nationwide example for others to strive to become. Also in Document 3 the advancement of medicine is described, “When Europeans learned that Muslims had preserved important medical texts, they wanted to translate the texts into Latin…Ibn Sina’s five-volume guided doctors of Europe and Southwest Asia for six-centuries.” This explains how muslim medical knowledge impacted the western civilization greatly. The translation from Arabic to Latin provided European doctors with vital reference sources for centuries upon centuries. These 2 excerpts indicate that Muslims set the standard for other countries to become and helped those countries with their journey to get to that point. Another thing that Muslims excelled at was math and science. Document 4 states, “Muslim mathematicians also adopted Arabic numerals from the Indians and used them in place-value systems.” Combining Indian guidance with their own ideas of advancement, impacted the rest of the Western Civilization. Algebra stemmed from this place-value system and it is now used in everyday life. The understanding of mathematics also led them to advancements in astronomy and mapmaking. I will be writing about how the Early Islamic Empire expanded. Islam expanded by Muslims invading other territories. This helps them expand Islam because once they invade; they take charge, and expand. This information is from Document A. Another way they expanded Islam was that they joined forces.
The Islamic empire was a dominant force for about 600 years, they were so dominant that even today we see many examples of their impact on the world now. They conquered territory which spread from Spain through east Asia. They faced many geographical barriers due to their unique location such as the terrain of the Arabian peninsula but they dealt with this adversity. The Islamic Empires' geographic extent, contributions and ideas in all fields, and influence on different regions led them to have a lasting impact on the world.
1A Answer: One example of how the Islamic world contributed to other cultures was how when Islamic merchants entered West Africa, they caused new beliefs and empires to develop. Since Islamic merchants preferred trading with fellow Muslims, West Africans practiced Islam to appease them.
