Dahmer admitted that he should be dead for what he did, and was then arrested (Pham). After Court Dahmer was sentenced to fifteen consecutive life sentences with no parole. This is estimated to be 957 years in prison. He was later killed in prison by a fellow inmate, Christopher Scarver. Scaver claims God told him to kill Dahmer. Scarver created a homemade knife that he later used to slice Dahmer’s neck and kill him. Not only was Dahmer put to death in prison, but had been killing people for thirteen years. Dahmer only ended up serving thirteen years before being killed. Dahmer did not receive the death penalty as it had been banned in Wisconsin before his trial. Damher is explained to be a monster of an individual and is known for his cannibalism and gruesome murders (Hanson). Dahmer had admitted to the murders of seventeen young men and boys. Dahmer was known to be killed because of his behavior behind bars. Dahmer was not the only one killed while behind bars, he also killed another fellow inmate at the same time as Dahmer's killing
On the night of July 22, 1991, Milwaukee enforcement officers took notice of a man running and stumbling down the street. When confronted, he said that a man had threatened him with a butcher’s knife. After arriving at Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment, Dahmer allowed the police to search the apartment. When the officials entered, they were hit with a putrid odor and had discovered various body parts scattered about his apartment that belonged to 11 of his victims, as well as Polaroid pictures of his victims' post-mortem in indecent poses. Dahmer was arrested on sight and taken into custody (“Serial Killers”).
In 1989, Dahmer had a lucky escape from the law after encountering a 13-year-old Laotian boy which led him to be convicted of sexual exploitation and second-degree sexual assault. He pleaded guilty to these charges stating that the boy looked over 18. In March of 1989, while awaiting his trial, he lured, strangled, sodomized, photographed, dismembered, and disposed of an aspiring model named Anthony Spears and multiple other young boys. During his trial, he was sentenced to one year in prison, for which he would have been charged more but he promised to change and enter into rehabilitation programs. After he was released from prison, he developed routines and started to experiment with disposing of bodies using chemical means and eating the flesh and organs of his victims.
After two grueling weeks of trial, the jury found him sane, and guilty of 15 murders. He was given 15 consecutive life sentences, or 957 years in the Columbia County Prison in Portage, Wisconsin (Biography.com 5). Dahmer’s time in prison was not very long. However, his short time in prison was strange. For example, he would make fake limbs out on his lunch, and eat them.

Jeffery Dahmer was a child who was neglected by his parents, due to his father working continuously and his mothers addiction to drugs; therefore, he felt like never received any affection from either of them. The only bonding he and his father had was dissecting roadkill in the garage, thus teaching his son skills to utilize on his victims. By the time he was 18, Dahmer was already struggling with his personal desires, his hidden homosexuality, and fantasy for murder; however, this fantasy did not become reality until June of 1978 when Dahmer picked up a hitchhiker named Steven Hicks and murdered him. Jeffery Dahmer, “the Milwaukee Cannibal” who was an American serial killer, murdered 17 and cannibalized some young men from 1978-1991; however He was caught in 1991 when one of his victims escaped.
Jeffrey Dahmer was 18 years old when he committed his first murder crime, it was during a summer of the year 1978. Being confused about his homosexual needs lead him to commit a murder to Steven Hicks a nineteen-year-old ‘hitchhiker’ who was invited by Dahmer to drink some beers at his father’s house. “When Hicks was ready to leave Dahmer bashed him in the head with a barbell and killed him” (Montaldo, 2015). The gut-wrenching way Jeffrey Dahmer decided to kill his victims is what allows people to widely remember him today. Dahmer being so invested into the cannibalism aspect also shocked the world because that wasn't a thing many people had heard of. Although Dahmer managed to carry out 17 of these nauseating crimes they quickly came to an end. Finally on July 22, 1991 two Milwaukee police officers spotted a man running down the street with handcuffs dangling from his wrist. The officers stopped him, in a reckless manner the man explained that he escaped a ¨weird dude¨ who threatened to use a butcher knife and cut his heart out.(World of Criminal Justice…)
A man ran to police officers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin claiming Dahmer threatened to kill him. When police arrived at Dahmer’s apartment they found polaroids of bodies in various stages of dismemberment. Since Wisconsin has no death penalty Dahmer was sentenced to 937 years behind bars. He was killed by a fellow inmate in 1994. Although Jeffrey Dahmer had a normal childhood, later in his lifetime he murdered seventeen people because of his deteriorating mental status.
Dahmer would have sexual intercourse with the corpses of the men he killed. The defense expert argued that this was something Dahmer could not control. “The final defense expert to testify, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Carl Wahlstrom, diagnosed Dahmer with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, necrophilia, alcohol dependence, and a psychotic disorder.” (Jeffrey Dahmer). Prosecutions denied this claim of insanity and another psychiatrist came in and claimed that Dahmer was not insane at the time of the murders.
The trial began in January of 1992 with an eight-foot wall of bulletproof glass around where Dahmer would be sitting to reduce the risk of him getting shot(pink 10). He was charged with fifteen counts of murder(green 61). Since he had already confessed his murders to the police, he pleaded guilty but insane. They claimed the cause of his killings was a result of his fear of being alone. This in effect, directly lead him to have sexual relations with the bodies(blue 97).
