What stimulant drug, speeds up the messages travelling between the brain and the rest of the body? Did you guess cocaine? If so, yes you are right. (http://www.druginfo.adf.org.au/drug-facts/cocaine) According to “The National Institution of Drug abuse” Cocaine is a very addicted drug and it is made from the leaves of the coca plant native to South America. Also cocaine is known as a stimulant drug and it is a schedule II narcotic. Cocaine is also known to be called C, coke, white dust and snow. Cocaine has 2 main forms that it can be used in. Drug enforcement agencies throughout North America spend over 40 billion tax dollars annually on their government funded war on drugs. The DEA currently classifies cocaine as an addictive and dangerous, schedule-two drug. Around the 1880’s, however, cocaine was celebrated in the United States for its “magical, medicinal purposes” (New Ulm Weekly Review). The miracle medicine of the late 19th century, cocaine, is derived from the coca plant native to South America, more specifically, the Andes Mountains. South Americans chewed the coca leaves for thousands of years to counter the nauseating effects of living in thin mountain-air environments and to stimulate their heart and breathing rates for hunting purposes.
When you think of drug overdose, what do you think about? You probably said Cocaine or Heroin, but what if I told you that there was another drug killing hundreds of thousands of people every year and was somehow going unnoticed. I implore you to read on if you haven’t heard of the shadow epidemic that’s taking American lives everyday. That epidemic is Xanax. Xanax is a very commonly prescribed anti-anxiety drug which became popular in the early 2000s and only continues to rise in popularity as it becomes more of a mainstream recreational drug.
Thank you for an informative paper. What troubles me about methadone treatment is how it is a substitute for another narcotic. It is sad about heroin addicts that do not want to get off their narcotic dependence. However, I do not feel that methadone is the answer because it is replacing one narcotic for another; although they have less craving.
Dear Bill Cosby as a child I use to watch your show almost every day as a child, I always thought your show was the best. I first saw you in a movie California pursuit with Richard Pryor when I was seven years old then, a few months later I saw you on the Cosby show know I admit when I saw your show your wife was the only reason I watched your show. But as I kept watching your show I realized that your show was great from the acting to the purpose of the show. But as I got older for some reason your show disappeared and you vanished so as I got older I thought you died so moved on. Almost 10 years later you resurfaced again, but it was for committing a crime.
Hi Noshaba, Thank you for your presentation. You have a very profound question as to the role of physical therapists in opioid addiction. It reminded me of the very inspiring words of the APTA president, Dr. Sharon Dunn (American Physical Therapy Association [APTA], 2015). I would like to quote what she said: “Physical therapists can help individuals manage pain, and greater use of physical therapy could make a real impact on the tragic levels of drug abuse in this country- abuse that often begins with a prescription for pain medication. Efforts like these are at the heart of what we mean when we talk about the transformative power of physical therapy.”
This stimulant drug is derived from the coca plant, and when used as a
A couple fellow classmates in high school and college were always taking some kind of pills. Myself not knowing much about drugs, I thought they were prescribed. Later, I found out that they weren’t prescribed. My classmates were using them for themselves and also distributing to other students. I never spoke up about it, since I never witnessed the distribution but rumors go around.

You’re sitting in your hospital room, waiting for answers. You are holding your daughter in your arms. Her sickly pale face turns and looks at you. She struggles to recognize you and tries to make out words. Her speech is slurred and you can’t understand a word she is saying.

As most people know, drug can easily make people addicted. The U.S government attaches great importance to this issue. However, there are just an increasing number of people calling for legalizing drugs.
It's funny how many people within my age group lack common sense. Even more, if you tell people drinking alcohol and smoking weed at a young age is bad they will actually defend it with no source of proof at all. There is a reason stuff like alcohol and smoking cigarettes have a fucking age restriction, not because adults are trying to stop you from having fun it's because a 15 year olds brain does not have the tolerance for it yet. Throughout my countless visits to the hospital I have been told by many paediatricians how terrible all of this stuff actually is for you. Today, a doctor was telling me about how she did a study over a course of 4 years in San Diego with two groups of young people aged around 14.
An end to drunk driving When driving a vehicle, thinking about the effects it will have on others might be the last thing on a person 's mind. Getting into an accident can be horrific, especially if the cause is drunk driving. Drunk drivers put lives at risk, as they can swerve uncontrollably and crash into innocent bystanders or other drivers. Automobile accidents occur daily, whether it is from a distracted driver, drunk driver or a sudden crash. However, drunk driving accidents and deaths related to them are totally preventable.
We, as a species have a hard time admitting when we are wrong. How do you live with something that has no cure? Sure, they have medication and counseling that can help subdue the problem for a short time being, but, it’s always there, haunting the corners of your mind. Attention Deficit Disorder, or ADD is a somewhat commonly known. People sort of know what it is, but that doesn’t mean that they completely understand what it is.
