INTRODUCTION
In this report I will be analyzing database design methodologies that can be used in a database designed for a chain of veterinary practices. I will select a database methodology and explain why it is best suited to this database. I will also produce a second report on entity relationship modeling and normalization this will be applied to the database that is being built for the veterinary chain.
DATABASE METHODOLOGIES
A development methodology is the framework that is used to structure and plan and the development of the system, it is also used to control the progress of development. Many different types of framework exist and they have each been adapted over time and each has different strengths and weaknesses. Some

The project is controlled through prioritizing development stages and meeting deadlines rather that extending them so they can be met. Documentation is simultaneously produced that is for assisting in future development of the system. One of the key factors of this method is most variations of systems analysis are compatible with this framework. When using rapid development it is preferable to have existing data for the project as it improves development time. Time boxing is a management scheme that is often used when using RAD as it focuses on meeting deadlines above everything else, when using time boxing objectives of the Timebox can be changed however the delivery date is never changed. RAD Generally includes Joint Application Development (JAD), where users are involved in system design; this removes the need for a prototyping stage thus making development faster. Many healthcare organizations had to implement an electronic health records system (EHR) to meet certain guidelines set forth by the government. This was a technology that the clinic implemented years ago to meet the needs of the patient, the requirements of the insurance companies, lean processes, and government regulations. This software helped also look for opportunities to treat our patients better and track data for population health. HG Clinic is investing in a new billing system that will allow them to track patient data better and improved billing process. These are just examples of opportunities that the clinic implemented and are continuously evaluating their current software and equipment and looking for opportunities for
Para. 2) The Omaha System remains statistically superior to other interface terminologies of the electronic health record. The efficacy of the Omaha system has been heavily researched and covers numerous types of patients in various types of settings. The authors, well credentialed and academic, thoroughly describe the Omaha system and its benefits for meaningful use achievement.
Among the wide range of standards available for the integration and interoperability of medical information systems is data exchange or messaging standards. The purpose is to broadly provide instructions or specifications for the structure, format, and elements for data pertaining to health related operations that involve clinical, financial and administrative data. More specifically messaging standards defines the relationship among data elements for structuring data as they are interchanged. 7.1.1 HL7. V3 - Health Level 7 Messaging Standards Version 3
This includes creating, managing and following patient data. The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) defines information governance as “an organization wide framework for managing information throughout its lifecycle and for supporting the organization’s strategy, operations, regulatory, legal, risk, and environmental requirements.” In today’s healthcare system, it is more important than ever to know and understand how healthcare information is created, transferred and used. Due to the development of systems such as electronic health records and clinical decision support systems it is important that health information maintains its reliability and validity throughout its
Argumentative Case With the upcoming election health care seems to be in talks again, just like with every election year, left sided candidates tend to lean towards a more equalized single paying system, where as the right wing candidates like to keep “America great” with it’s current marketplace system allowing more choice for Americans. Some might argue that a health care system for all would be costlier on tax payers; however, many studies show that a two-tier system would save American’s costs in a lot of ways. The argument will point out that the choices made in the health care marketplace only come at a cost for American taxpayers and federal and state governments (Munro, 2013). This argument will begin with the harm the current system
Iterative and incremental approach is a better way of developing requirements and modules as well. 4. Requirements provide a complete operating picture of the solution, which helps in taking correct decisions during initial stages of software development life cycle (SDLC). Iterative and Incremental Approach This approach allows us to make changes before it is too late.
Requirements Gathering – 4 weeks This is the investigative stage of the project. which involved conception, initiation and analysis of the problem. Design phase – 3 weeks This stage involves translating the requirements from the previous stage into detailed designs that address them.
The healthcare industry generates a great amount of data every day, as a form of record keeping, patient care, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Just a decade ago, all this data was stored in the form of hard copy form, now it is rapidly transforming to digital data which is called EMR (Electronic Medical Record). The digitalization of the healthcare has not just reduced cost of care, but also improved quality of care due to the abundance data that organizations receive from the EMR to identify the flaws in their system. I work in the healthcare industry where improving quality of care is our primary goal. We use software called eCW , which is an integrated system.
Its determination is to associate patients to their data to improve the capability to generate a simplicity in sharing this data amongst the multiple health facilities patients visit. UPIs engendered by Electron Health Records (EHR) data can be manipulated by other healthcare systems including hospitals, pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, clinical research firms or diagnostic medical devices. These entities allocate data to be encapsulated, assembled, managed and then interconnected together universally. According to the article, Registries for Evaluating Patient Outcomes: A User 's Guide, “PIM has become crucial in order to (1) enable health record document consumers to obtain trusted views of their patient subjects, (2) facilitate data linkage projects, (3) abide by the current regulations concerning patient information–related transparency, privacy, disclosure, handling, and documentation,2 and (4) make the most efficient use of limited health care resources by reducing redundant data collection.” (Gliklich, R. E., & Dreyer, N. A., 2010).
Since 1988 there has been a timeline technique that has been tested by individuals and numerous agencies on how to manage time in the military. In decision making time management is of great importance as this helps in planning, use of army 's 1/3-2/3 rule assists in deciding the synopsis of the deficiencies and recommendations for unit 's improvement and execution of military decision-making process (Wallace, J. Jr,1972). It is of paramount important for someone to know which project is most beneficial to him so as to enable you prioritize your time. The following information that is used in the military will help you to know which projects to start with and their imp01iance. Goal achievements in the military are achieved by inflicting the greatest damage on their enemy by using very
Based on this case the cost driver is to properly distribute the direct cost among the different divisions. Dr. Julian would like to control her departments costs by having them distributed fairly among the divisions without affecting the hospital’s reimbursement/revenue. Carroll University Hospital is currently using the standard costing unit, which is based on the cost of bed/day for inpatients. Currently the present cost accounting system that is being used at CUH takes the total direct cost of the departments, then allocates the indirect costs and distributes it among the departments evenly regardless of the actual resources being used in those departments, and without considering that there may be some patients in these divisions that may require more resources than others, this method does not seem to recognize the different activities,
The process starts with reviewing the current operations, past experiences and subsequently identifying what needs to be improved. Secondly, planning needs envisioning the results that the project wants to achieve, and the steps or activities required to arrive at success, i.e. fulfilling the mission of the project. Scheduling is a tool to plan and monitor the progress of the project. The case study, “The Boeing 767: From Concept to Production”, gives an overview of the planning efforts and how the team managed and controlled schedules using various techniques.
It is important to emphasize that these challenges were brought about by poorly defined goals and the scope was usually unclear. This meant the projects usually tended to go beyond the estimates as the project developers tried to fix newly developed ideas in to the development process. the phase gate model was developed to give an outline of the project development process to offer solutions for managing newly launched
The term Research Methodology refers to a set of procedures, methods & techniques that are put together by the researchers to obtain a solution to the problems they confront during the collection of data. The researchers look for the most crucial data which is inevitable for the research. Generally there are three kinds of approaches or research methods namely Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed. These methods are used to gather data and resolve issues that emerge during the process of data gathering. The researcher can bring forward his findings either in the form of quantitative or qualitative or mixed research methodologies only when the data is collected based on the preliminary data gathering process and the secondary data gathering process.
