I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating classroom in which they grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As an educator it is my personal goal to help each and every child that enters my classroom to meet that goal. I plan on doing this my creating a safe, idea sharing, active, and fun classroom environment. In order to create this type of classroom I will act as guide for students. When students enter the classroom, we create our own community of a variety individuals. Not only do these individuals have different learning styles, and personalities, but they have different prior knowledge. As a teacher it is my goal to take that prior knowledge, and act as a
As a kindergarten teacher at Otter Lake Elementary (WBLAS) and first grade teacher at S.G. Reinertsen Elementary (Moorhead Public Schools), I have learned the importance of establishing a sense of community and belonging in the classroom. By providing a stimulating learning environment that fosters confidence and encourages each child to reach their fullest potential, I aim to meet the specific needs of each student. I firmly believe that every child is entitled to an education environment that enables them to learn and grow both academically and personally. By motivating my students to have confidence in their strengths and abilities, I hope to inspire them to become dedicated, lifelong learners. With only seven hours each day to make a difference in students’ lives, I strive to effectively utilize our time together to ensure they receive a valuable
The children in a school are valued, with an environment that fully encourages and celebrates their learning and progression and how they are developing. The provision of a safe and secure learning environment for all its pupils should be provided through recognizing the importance of welcoming diversity and equal opportunities. The atmosphere within a school should be positive, with this being reflected in the attitudes of the staff and pupils, all caring for and taking pride in their surroundings and in how the learning journey of each pupil takes
It has been a challenge for me to create a classroom environment that creates an inclusive and integrated classroom that allows students to grow and learn at their own level and pace
A teacher can help each individual student to be educationally successful if they take the time and energy required to do so. I believe a trusting relationship between the students and teacher is necessary in order to create a safe learning environment. Once a bond is created, it allows the students to express themselves in an honest, raw way that truly allows for independent thought, it allows the students to express themselves without fear, I feel this type of environment helps students thrive. Students should be motivated from
The power of education beings with a great foundation. I believe that we are all born with an innate drive to learn and every child should have the opportunity to experience the power of education in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment. For this environment to be successful, I will provide students with the space to express themselves, opportunities to explore their curiosity, and ¬experiences in which they are able to grow as individuals. It is my goal, as an educator, to help students discover and foster their ability to learn and build upon their foundation of knowledge. To achieve these goals, it is important that I first understand the role schools within society, the role of students, my role as an educator, the design of my curriculum/classroom management strategies, and the role of parents within my classroom.
I want students to be able to learn and appreciate the complexity which is our nervous system. I want to foster a passion for all things neuroscience. I want students to conduct research in neuroscience so they can focus on one area and have top universities see their research. Research that they were able to accomplish at a high school without high tech labs or vast resources. I want students to get to places that I could never imagine.
I will include this in our classroom by incorporating the following concepts freedom and responsibility, success and recognition, warmth and respect. I will show that freedom and responsibility are value in the class therefore: students will know they are accountable for their actions and progress in class. I will use examples such as when a student turns in his work or her good grades are earn, and when students behave chances of getting extra credit points increases. As a teacher I will recognize when a student success using motivating statements such as keeping doing your great work, you are on track on being on the valedictorian of your graduating class, etc. This will build up the classroom sense of knowing that if they work hard and
Writing holds a central place in everyday life, from talking with friends and family to navigating academia and careers. We are all constantly being bombarded with information, assignments, and tasks that require our ability to navigate a highly literate world. As I continue my transition into the world of adulthood, the demands on my literacy skills will only go up. Gallagher who summed up the importance of literacy in the Information Age says it best: “Today, writing is foundational for success” (4). My role as a teacher of writing is an important job, one that, if done well, can tremendously help students to flourish in this new age.
A safe space is one that allows students to feel at ease to express themselves, share experiences, and discuss differences of opinion. Children learn best when they feel they are part of a community, where everyone feels accepted and individually encouraged. I show my students that the classroom is a community through trust, predictability, and parent involvement. Children know that they can trust me when they are shown eye contact, listening, and acknowledgement. Having a calm acceptance of children’s feelings goes a long way towards letting a child know that the classroom is safe.
Education and volunteerism have always been important to me. My grandmother made it clear that not going to college was not an option. I am a first-generation college graduate in my family. I am grateful for my grandmother because she pushed and installed the importance of having an education. She also pushed me to volunteer as a youth.
Being the top of my class has always been important to me. Not for the number, not for the grade, but rather, for the opportunities that success brought me. I have a voracious mind; I’m capable of devouring countless facts and swaths of knowledge, but none of that knowledge is for me. I have always been an insatiable learner because I want to be able to pass it all on. I come a divided district where students either soar, or sink like a stone.
Goals and Philosophy The goals of my research program are as follows: • Develop a diverse and productive research program based on psychological principles. • Provide a strong scientific basis for the utilization of psychological standards and research methods to repair ensuing problems in the working environment and enhance personal satisfaction. • Work at training graduate and undergraduate students in research and study workplace productivity, management, and employee working styles. This will introduce methods to improve the morale, and personality of the personnel for a company or organization.
When I was in the third grade I was told to paint a picture of what we wanted to be when we were older. I drew myself as a teacher. One of the reasons that I wanted to be a teacher was so I could help others, mostly children. Although I do not want to be a teacher anymore, I do hold on to the desire of helping others, in which I now was to major in Psychology. Growing up, I lived with my grandparents and my parents divorced and out of the house.
Many things play into the role of a professional teacher. The teacher serves as a role model to their students, in some cases the only positive role model a child sees. Failing to act in a professional may lead to setting a bad example to the students and cause the students to lose respect for the teacher. A teacher must maintain the respect of not only their students, parents, but also their colleagues, and administrators and provide their students with the best education while demonstrating professionalism in all parts of their career. When teachers interact with students and parents, teachers must understand there is a fine line between being a caring teacher and a friend to the student or the parent.
Teaching philosophy is described by Sadker and Sadker as, “Behind every school and every teacher is a set of related beliefs - a philosophy of education – that influences what and how students are taught. A philosophy of education represents answers to questions about the purpose of schooling, a teacher’s role and what should be taught and by what methods.” (Teacher, Schools and Society. 2005). With this definition in consideration, my teaching philosophy is “I believe that children learn best when they are given the chance to choose, discuss and explore what they want to learn, when they want to learn and how they want to learn.
