Most do not like to admit that mass shootings are becoming a part of everyday life. They are becoming the activity that some Americans are using to cope with stress or things they do not agree with. Instead of letting things go, some people are beginning to take their anger out on others. They believe by doing this they are proving a point and releasing their anger. Mass shootings are beginning to occur rapidly in the United States. Some ways to prevent this would be running a background check on gun owners, searching before entering large residents, training police officers, and monitoring. There is not an exact definition of a “mass shooting.” But according to the Gun Violence Archive a mass shooting is defined as “any incident where four or more people are wounded or killed [excluding] gang killings or slayings that involve multiple family members” (Christensen). The state passed Laura’s Law in 2002 but left it up to counties to choose to implement it. For a while, only Nevada County did” (Dembosky 2). I think that attacks such as the Las Vegas Shooting are so common these days because gun control isn 't strict enough to prevent them from happening. At this point, even mentally unstable individuals such as Stephen Paddock are allowed to get guns. Even though background checks are performed to see if the person is part of criminal activity or anything like that, they still shouldn 't have the authority to purchase them because you never know whether or not they 'll take advantage of their weapons. Stephan Paddock, for example, passed the background checks but later converted his gun into a machine gun and shot many innocent people at the country festival. If gun control was more strict, shootings like this wouldn 't happen in the first

Another security measures that should be taken to prevent mass shootings is designing buildings to make it much more difficult for potential shooters to commit a shooting. According to Architectural Digest, “these shootings always entail the gross misuse of firearms, but they also tend to involve an unexpected breach of a building—a movie theater, hotel, or school—so architects, too, are looking for ways to render buildings and landscapes better able to ward off, or at least mitigate the effects of, the threats
