Many people didn’t want to except Jackie. So, for that, Jackie went through crazy racism, that no human being would want to face. Jackie said, “ Some of my own teammates didn’t want to except me because I was black.” From this we can see that that Jackie hardships were extremely difficult, because most of his teammates didn’t want to play with him, because he was black. Jackie, over time, learned to ignore all the hate, and focus on positive things such as his fans. Jackie said, “ The black and the young were my cheering squad.” We could see that with the little fans he had he cherished them, because they make Jackie feel happy. Jackie, worked so that he could be the best ball player he could be. So, that people would look past his race and just see him as Jackie, an amazing ball player. Jackie Robinson sorta made like a path for other African American Athletes to follow. He did this so that our country, The United States of America, could understand that it doesn’t matter if you are white or black, etc. Robinson 's act of becoming the first black person to be on the Major Leagues, encouraged other African American Athletes to follow there …show more content…
For Feng Ru it was always a life or death situation. Not only that Feng had to fly in secret. Maksel said,” At twilight on tuesday evening Feng Ru prepared to test fly his own invention of an airplane.” Feng Ru on one of his practices the plane actually flew, but later crashed. So feng Ru learned by reading about the Wright Brothers on how he can improve his plane. “Upon hearing of the Wright Brothers success, Fang Ru turned his attention to aviation.” (Maksel) Feng Ru tried to make his plane safe when they flew. Every day Feng Ru was working and working always every day to make his plane better. Even when he went back to China he still kept on working to make his air plane better. The airplane for China would not be the same without Feng Ru. As you can see Melba, Jackie and Feng Ru all faced challenges that they could’ve died from. Jackie had to go through threats of harm. Melba was one of the first black kids to be able to go to an all white school legally and from doing this she had to go threw a big angry mob. Feng Ru had to look death itself strait in the eye and overcome it. From doing this they all changed their countries for the good. From reading this how can you change maybe your school, or maybe even your country like Jackie, Feng Ru, & beals
He paved the way for civil rights by being the first African-American male to play on an all white baseball team. Robinson stood for his moral principles no matter what anyone said. After he integrated baseball, Jackie became a full-fledged leader in the civil rights movement. He traveled across the country in a effort to build morale among African Americans fighting for racial justice in their local communities. Robinson helped many civil rights campaigns in Albany (GA.) and Birmingham.
Jackie changed the game of baseball, because of him players from any ethnicity had a chance at becoming big” (Sports Museum). Jackie was one of the heros who began the end of segregation. This was not easy and his legacy will forever be remembered. He paved the way for so many athletes. If it wasn't for him many people of color would not be where they are today.
Jackie Robinson was the first african american baseball player in major league baseball and one of his best supporters was his mother, Mallie Robinson. Jackie and Mallie had strong personalities that others around them saw. They also had a sense of pride about their family and loved each other, showing it in any way they could. Being african american, they were offended and insulted because of their skin color and their personalities shown through on how they reacted to it. Jackie and his mother both had strong personalities that they showed in different ways.
Jackie Robinson, The Dark Destroyer, The Colored Comet, Jackie the Robber. He was the first African American baseball player to play in the M.L.B. I chose to do my report on Jackie Robinson because I thought that he was very interesting and different. He was a baseball legend in my book. I have heard his name a bunch of times, but I did not know anything about him. Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919, in Rural Georgia.
Jackie expanded the fanbase of the Brooklyn Dodgers, since most blacks looked to Robinson for courage, and they saw Jackie as a hero. At first, most people were against
An icon is a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something. This man was not only an Icon in baseball, but a civil rights leader, a father of three, and a role model for all young adults. Jackie Robinson was a small town boy who had big-time dreams. He was from a small city in Georgia and always had outstanding athletic abilities. Not only was Jackie a baseball player, but he also played a major role in breaking the color barrier.
At first, Jackie was repeatedly booed by whites and wanted him gone and back to the Negro Leagues. However, as the movie went on and Jackie’s work ethic and the ability of not lose his temper, he earned the respect of his teammates
To do that, he had to find someone that could withstand racial discrimination and learn to not fight back when dealt with harsh criticism. Jackie Robinson took an amazing risk when he became the first African-American athlete to play in the major leagues. Robinson has been a huge inspiration to athletes, paving the way for blacks, not just in the game of baseball, as well as being an outspoken activist for the rights of American-Americans. Baseball was segregated at the time, but Jackie took an unbelievable risk, breaking the color barrier in the sport.
He was a big part in the fight for equal rights. Jackie Robinson took so much abuse on the field because of his race that it gave him mental breakdowns. These breakdowns sometimes took days to recover from but he went through all of that so other people would have better opportunities. But this didn’t just go on for one season, Robinson had to deal with that racism for about two years before he was really accepted as a “respected” baseball player. (Kuhn, web) and (Wilson, web).
Robinson's life was devoted in ending segregation by playing the sport he loved most of all. By overcoming all the challenges on the baseball field from his teammates to the fans in the crowd booing him. He became the face of baseball and the person who changed the game for ever. After baseball he wasn't done there he became a great civil rights leader and helped many African Americans overcome challenges. When the bank was not treating the Africans fairly he stepped in by founding the free national bank which helped a ton of people out and made the bank fair for everyone.
This quote explains his first appearance in the MLB as an African American. Jackie Robinson had his mind set on his goal. He did not give up because he was different. Although he encountered many hardships, he continued to try his hardest and eventually joined the Brooklyn Dodgers. This fits in with what I know because people today are still bashed for their race.
Jackie Robinson was a game changer for all sports. He broke barriers in baseball allowing African Americans to play baseball. Jackie was hated at first but he didn't say anything and let his playing do the talking. Jackie didn't only change baseball he helped his community and the Civil Rights movement.
Jackie Robinson not only made impacts on the field that were monumental, but he made impacts off the field that were equally as important. Jackie helped presidents get elected, get kids off the streets and into the most prestigious schools there is, and most importantly he broke the black color barrier in baseball. Jackie Robinson is one of the most influential people to ever live, he did things that people would dream about, he stood up for what he believed. To begin, Jackie’s biggest accomplishment was breaking the black color barrier on baseball, “ Jackie Robinson broke through the color barrier that kept blacks out of the Major League Baseball [MLB].
The book that I read for quarter 2 was called I Never Had It Made Jackie Robinson an autobiography as told by Alfred Duckett. This is a novel that I chose to read for my multicultural as it talks about the life of Jackie Robinson growing up and living in a mostly white world. This story takes place back in the 1940s 1950s a time period where people of Jackie’s race were not treated well. He was born in Cairo, Georgia, yet since he and his wife were constantly moving due to housing conditions being inadequate since they had a growing family. The primary conflict of this book is person vs. society because it is all about how Jackie was treated by the society being the first African American to play in Major League Baseball.
Jackie Robinson challenged white America’s societal perception of African American at the time. “Robinson won Rookie of the Year in 1947. In later seasons, more African-Americans joined other teams in the Major Leagues, as Robinson continued to excel. His success gained him fans from all over the country.” (Mcbirney 14).
