Divided Societies Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and sadly passed away on January 29, 1963. He was considered one of the most famous poets of his time because of all of the amazing works he published. The type of poetry he wrote about could be described as conversational, realistic, and rural. The one I chose to focus on and analyze is the “Mending Wall” which can be considered a controversial and realistic poem. When he wrote the “Mending Wall '' it was a few months before WWI began, but there was tension all around the world even though the war had not started. People divided amongst themselves because they had different beliefs and views based on what they considered right or wrong. “Mending Wall” was written based on what Robert …show more content…
He uses many descriptive words to convey the emotions he wants his audience to feel. One of the most recurring emotions is distress. An example of this is “...spills the upper boulders”(Frost, line 3). By using describing words to get the full meaning across, it makes people think about what or who is spilling the upper boulders and why are the upper boulders spilling? There is no direct answer ever given, which causes the feeling of distress to grow even more. Another word that is used is “mending” which gives the feeling of hopefulness that maybe the conflict will get better because to mend something is to fix …show more content…
Robert Frost uses lots of difficult phrases and words that do not make sense to most readers. I understand some readers like to analyze poems and look even deeper into words and the meaning behind the poems. Some of the audience would do a very in depth analysis to even come up with a connection to logos. However for many people including me, trying to make a connection back to logos providing evidence or a quote would be extremely difficult. That is because there is no surface level logic used, for example there was no statistics used or any proven facts provided. I think Robert could have incorporated logos by using easier or more commonly used words because it would have made connections between two things more possible to accomplish. He could have also added a statistic somewhere in the poem and it would have made the topic of the poem even clearer to the audience and made the message even more powerful, and would have shown a real reason why people should be more open minded. I also think if Robert added a remark or comment about something that happened in history it would make the poem better because there is something there that even someone who does not understand the poem at all, can look up the historical event and get a better jist of what they just
Advertisements are everywhere, whether it be on the walk to the park or scrolling through my Instagram feed. They control the way we think and heavily impact the way we spend money, to do that advertisers use ethos, pathos, and/ or logos. When ethos is used on an advertisement often times, celebrities are modeling with the product because people tend to trust familiar faces. When pathos is intended to be in use, the advertisement tends to target the audience’s emotions and is often a sad ad. When logos is in use, the ad states statistics because people side with factual information.

Pathos because the symbol evokes the emotional desire for their food; ethos because they are a credible restaurant due to their global success.

I have always loved this community, and for some reason, I cannot put my finger on it as to why. However, this new theme you have just makes it so much better. Here 's the thing, I dislike dark themes. However, the way you have everything layed out and how the colors just complement each-other, I am loving what I am seeing. The first thing I notice is the background of the header along with the very professional looking logo, very well done!
No Means No “Are there any parties or places that you have been warned not to go to,” asked the interviewer. “We Real Cool” and “Mending Wall,” are poems written by Gwendolyn Brooks and Robert Frost respectively. These two poems show the readers the social order that is followed by two different types of people in American society and how they feel about this particular value. “We Real Cool,” shows the reader how life is a better experience when living without boundaries and rules. On the other hand, “Mending Wall” shows the readers how following traditional social rules and order can hinder the individual and prevents people from experiencing a fuller, more satisfying life. The authors from both poems use literary devices such as contrast and symbolism to show the reader how “We Real Cool” and “Mending Wall” display how the characters from both

He uses logos to gives us facts about the U.S. health care system so we know its legit.
Knowing that the author is a poet helps the reader understand the text a little better because sometimes poets can understand poems a lot better and therefore can explain them better. Rosanna Warren does a good job of taking the reader inside the mind of Robert Frost making it to where the reader can feel and see where each poem come from. This is especially seen in the poem Nothing Gold Can Stay where she tells you the background and then explains the poem into with the reader can actually see that this poem was made through sadness. Throughout the article, the author uses historical facts, rhyme schemes, stanzas and the poems themselves to prove her

The creative piece presented was written to respond to major themes developed in the film Blade Runner (1982). One of these themes presented is the moral issue regarding the creation of synthetic humans. To address this the topic question “The real or synthetic: do we even care?” was utilised. Robert Frost’s poems explored the nature in a rather deep and dark way. For example, his poem, “After-Apple Picking” is hidden under a mask that looks like a harvester is just tired and wants to go to sleep after a day of picking apple from tree. However, we learned that this poem has deeper meaning than what is being shown on the surface. This poem is about actually talking about death as a deeper meaning. I think it is really interesting how Robert Frost, as a poet, was able to connect two themes that are completely different and make it into a single poem.

If giving out false information to persuade an audience is untruthful then why as a society we are still reaching for the untruthful? Persuasion is alternatively what all advertisements are aiming for no matter if it is for a product or idea. Over the use of methods like ethos, pathos, and logos advertisements become more appealing and compelling to everyday people.
