Dramatic irony is a huge part of 'The Crucible' as throughout the play, there are many ideas and notions that the audience knows but the other characters do not. In many scenes, especially scenes with Abigail Williams, there is an ounce of dramatic irony that causes frustration among the audience, whilst also creating a story line. An example of this is when the audience knows Abigail and "the girls" are lying about witches in Salem because of the scene in Act One describing how scared they were about people finding out what happened in the woods. The audience, Abigail and "the girls" know the whole witch idea is a huge rouse but the other characters in the play do not have any idea. This causes the audience to become overly frustrated and

Option D With the incline of Hysteria throughout the village of salem the so called “Virtuous Puritans” became backstabbing in some cases greedy folk who were only in it for themselves. From Putnam to Parris they were profiting trying to gain something or save themselves from trial. Putnam himself would just outlandishly accuse many villagers most likely them all innocent just to gain land for his own greed gains. As a side note to keep himself from the danger of the trials.

Arthur Miller’s actions during the Red Scare mirrors the actions of John Proctor during the witch hunts in Arthur Miller’s play, “The Crucible”. In the last act of the play John Proctor was being forced to write down a confession of witchcraft when the court presses him to say more names, but refused. “Then it is proven, why must I say more?” (act 4).
