Abstract:
This study examined the relationship of work stress with psychological or mental collapse which lead to aggressive behavior .The study included one major hypotheses dealing with internal work stress, external work stress as well as personal and organizational variables and its impact on generating aggressiveness .
The study sample was the employees of United Arab Emirates University and other organizations.
The purposive sampling was used. The study sample consisted of (100) questionnaire and the number of respondent was (100).
The questionnaire consist of five parts: personal information, family information, work environment information, internal work stress information and solution suggestion.

General Adaptation Syndrome curve created by Hans Selye :
In 1936 Hans Selye created the stress model "General Adaptation Syndrome", which explains the stress response and how aging and disease are caused by chronic exposure to stress.
“Every stress leaves an indelible scar, and the organism pays for its survival after a stressful situation by becoming a little older.” Hans Selye (1907-1982)

Selye identify three stages of stress response which are:
1. Alarm stage

Stress does not always have a negative effect, most of the time the effects can be positive. In the alarm phase the body recognizes the stressor and responds by preparing for fight or flight. The body’s reactions are numerous and complex and will be briefly summarized. The hypothalamus located in the brain sends a message to the pituitary gland to release its hormones and this triggers the adrenal glands to release adrenaline” (Castro, 2015, p.377-382). The physiological symptoms that I have experienced include anxiety, tension, and worry and then these leads to the physical reactions of stress which include the alarm phase where the “body prepares for fight or flight, the resistance phase when the body attempts to return to homeostasis, and the third phase of exhaustion occurs when he body remains in a state of high stress for an extended period of time and is unable to repair damage” (Zastrow, 2015, p.377-380).
In America, people all over the world deals with stress. Being a nurse is a stressful job. Being stress can be fatigue and even cause ill health for an individual. Stressing in the environment can cause employees to stressful situations causing difficult health, and safety problems not only for the nurses, but also for their patients. The above diagram is a model of the general adaptation syndrome (GAS) devised by Hans Selye (1976). The model was made for the intended purpose of explaining stress response, how age can affect the manner in which stress affects the body, and also how illnesses can be caused by continuous stress exposure. The model is described as general it is only based off agents that have a standard and extensive effect on the body. Stress can disrupt homeostasis in our bodies, by altering the manner in which our body functions. Stress can also reduce our lifespans by speeding up the process of aging.
The body has an automatic response to stress from a perceived threat, whether the threat is mentally or physically. This reaction is called the fight or flight response. The moment our bodies sense the danger, it kicks in. The adrenal glands release adrenaline, causing breathing and heartrate to speed up and blood pressure to rise. Digestion stops and the extra blood flow is redirected towards the muscles to give them the extra energy the body needs as it prepares to either fight or flee.
A stress experience may or may not become a crisis, it all depends on the person’s coping capacities (Walsh, 2013, p. 310). Coping signifies a person’s efforts to overcome the demands of stress which include thoughts, feelings, and actions used as such efforts (Walsh, 2013, p. 310). Adaptation involves related, longer-term adjustments the person may make in his or her lifestyle (Walsh, 2013, p. 310). Furthermore, there are two types of coping, biological and psychological coping. The biological view of stress and coping emphasizes the body’s attempts to maintain physical equilibrium (Walsh, 2013, p. 310).
In extreme cases, long-term stress or traumatic events at work may lead to psychological problems and be conducive to psychiatric disorders resulting in absence from work and preventing the worker from being able to work again Some people who experience stress may engage in unhealthy practices such as; smoking, excessive drinking, poor diet and little exercise. They may become distressed, irritable, enjoy their work less, and feel less committed to work, have difficulty thinking logically or making decisions. 3. Review of literature 3.1 Stress and its types: Stress is an essential mediator of human behaviour. Immediate physiological response to any type of stressor facilitates survival of the species at its maximum.
