Since the creation of Six Degrees, the first recognizable social media platform back in 1997, the usage of the social media platforms has grown in size to the point where 37% of population uses them worldwide (We Are Social, 2017). This unceasing mass socialization profoundly influences society today, thus, playing a significant role in shaping its life, therefore, three popular social media platforms are selected to analyze how they affected people intensely within a certain period of time. Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram have affected our society within the past five years in both positive and negative aspects: Facebook, despite its popularity with worldwide online communication, is challenged with fraudulent security and cyber-bullying; …show more content…

Because of Instagram, many starting photographers, companies and marketers are able to promote their business and gain recognition (Saravanakumar & Lakshmi, 2012). In addition, according to the recent study, Instagram may help people to eat cleaner and fix their diet. In the study, the participants used Instagram as a way to gain followers and to educate them; there are also people whose health has improved since they started operating on this platform (Chung, Agapie, Schroeder, Mishra, Fogarty, Munson, 2017). However, this social networking website has its problems. Following famous rich people may cause a decrease in self-esteem and body image. In fact, in a report, which analyzed five popular social media platforms and their impact on young people’s mental health, Instagram appeared to be the most negative of them. (Royal Society for Public Health [RHPH], Young Health Movement [YHM]. 2017). The simplicity of creating fake Instagram profiles is also a problem, because it violates the platform’s terms of service (Instagram, 2017). A social experiment revealed how easy it was to
The board and the executive director both have several responsibilities, such as recruiting, supervising, evaluating, leading the organization, policy based governance system, and to protect the organizations assets. Ensuring that both parties are implementing their job, could benefit the organization in many ways. For example, the board is responsible for hiring the general manager. Their job is to hire the best qualified CEO, and as a result the manager will ensure that the organizations mission will be fulfilled. Board members/ executive directors use the internal control system to control an organization.
Robotics in the workplace has seen recent strides across multiple businesses and industries. New technology has paved the way for new possibilities for the implementation of robotics in multiple fields. International Data Corp forecasts a growth of about $135 billion in the robotics industry by 2019 (Gaudin, 2016). There are a few factors that are causing new technology and machinery to become a more viable option that it was in the past. These factors are the main supporters of growth of the industry.
Obesity means that human body has an excess amount of fat, caused by environmental and genetic factors. A Body Mass Index is a measuring tool for obesity, the body mass index of an obese person is 30 or more. Also, there is another tool to measure obesity which is the waist circumference, women waist circumference of 35 inches or more is considered obese, and for men 40 inches or more is considered obese. There are many diseases are considered consequences of obesity such as heart diseases, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, obstructive sleep apnea, high cholesterol, some cancers, and gallbladder diseases. Buildings have a large impact on their surrounding context but also on the larger scale which includes the resources and energy used to produce these buildings. All buildings create harmful emissions, where 18% of these are created indirectly by the materials (Araji & Shakour, 2013). Sustainable design in the building industry is important due to the fact that 50% of the material which is taken from the earth is used within the building industry and from this over 50% is waste production. This large amount of material usage leads to the use of more energy consumption (Anink, et al., 1996).
Today, business environments have become increasingly more complex, severe, complex, and connected at the domestic and global level. Consequently, Information technology security has moved to the forefront in companies. As a result, they are discovering that they also must diligently protect employees, networks, and information from outside threats. Therefore, a lot of businesses are beginning to hire executives known as chief security officers and chief information officers for their security needs. Thus, the CISO and CIO have important roles in simplifying the strategic planning into operational and tactical InfoSec plans.
Different cultures around the world develop their own technologies to satisfy their shared and individual wants, values, and needs. Technology can be connected with and shaped by systems of society, including but not limited to family, the economy, political, education, and politics. American transportation systems are more focused on freedom and independence, while other cultures might focus on the convenience and speed correlated with mass transportation systems. In America, the absence of a mass transit system is due to to corporate influence. Automobile and Oil companies have made mass transit systems not an option because it would decrease their profits by a large margin.
Students increasingly view themselves as customers and consumers, expecting high-quality facilities, resources and services attuned to their needs and concerns. Greater emphasize on library assessment to support strategic planning, improved processes and a greater understanding of users’ needs. Academic libraries must prove the value they provide to the academic enterprise. Librarians must be able to convert the goodwill towards the library through effective communication to all stakeholders that clearly articulate its value to the academic community, how library resources contribute to student and faculty success and the environmental value of academic libraries.
America was always known as an origin which produces good quality automobiles. “Although the blueprint for the modern automobile was perfected in Germany and France in the late 1800s, Americans dominated the industry in the first half of the twentieth century.” (history.com). However, the industry was facing a lot of challenges during the centuries and until today. The ones I want to discuss are the global competition, new technologies, impact on the environment and government’s reaction to it and consumers opinion about the product. As I said earlier, America dominated auto industry in the first half of the twentieth century: “In 1929 before the Great Depression, the world had 32,028,500 automobiles in use, and the U.S. automobile industry produced over 90% of them.”
New inventions have been developing in an increasingly fast rate over the years. Different trends are continuously emerging, while some have been here for some time, and some are just getting started. According to the World Economic Forum the top ten emerging trends of 2015 will be, fuel cell vehicles, next-generation robotics, recyclable thermoset plastics, precise genetic engineering techniques, additive many factoring, emergent artificial intelligence, distributed manufacturing, 'sense and avoid' drones, neuromorphic technology, digital genome. (Meyerson, B) All of which are technology based inventions.
The continuous use of fossil fuels has also had colossal biological impacts to the Earth. Using fossil fuels consistently over the past few centuries with dependence has affected the environment and life on the planet. In 2013, a study was conducted by scientists to examine if the harvesting and use of fossil fuels had an impact on the biodiversity in different regions of the planet. After examining certain regions on the planet, the scientists discovered that the overharvesting and overuse of fossil fuels had a colossal impact on life in those regions. For example, the “Western Amazon, in northern South America, includes parts of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and western Brazil [and is also] one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet and also

Recently, I have heard business owners asked: Is there any need to have a website, or has social media replace the need for one? So this article is to help you make an informed decision towards your online presence. I will explain the what, when, why, how; pros and cons of these two platforms, which comes first or is important. Though there’s no one strict rule that fits all.
I do not believe that there is an overall, empirically provable and universally acceptable answer to this question. Globalization has many dimensions: • The world is not a single unit of study in the context of globalization. Balancing the net costs and benefits across countries, regions, cultural, economic and other blocs is not feasible other than in a statistical sense, and the interpretation of statistics is associated with values and other contexts; • Balancing the net impacts across differing globalization themes – economics, environment, health, education, culture, social mobility, etc. is also value-laden; • It is not possible identify the relative effects – i.e. what would various countries have looked like today without globalization;
You have indicated some very valid good points in your discussion. I agree that organizations definitely need to take precautions to ensure that the organization protects itself and its assets from aspects that can ruin the organization's reputation and what makes it successful. Further, I agree that social media is definitely a distraction because many times the various social sites take employees away from what they are supposed to be doing. Essentially, many times, we as employees become so consumed with what is presented on individual’s social site pages, in their posts, and the information they are sharing that we lose track of the key objectives and tasks we need to focus on.
