Everyone can identify themselves with a concrete culture and in every group there are numerous food dishes that satisfies one, or brings back peerless memories and feelings only they can relate to. Food itself has meaning attached to it, from the way it is prepared down to the ingredients used. Factors that influence food can be anything from practices and beliefs to the economy and distribution. Culinary traditions are important in helping express cultural identity. Italian meal commonly consist of pastas such as spaghetti, lasagna, penne, and linguine. Italian spaghetti and meatballs has been one of the many worldwide favorite dishes for decades. I remember coming home from school many days with a big plate of spaghetti waiting for me at the table, the slippery noodles, well seasoned meat, and spaghetti sauce all went together perfectly. Pizza is also widely known in the Italian culture and it believed that they perfected it over time. Many Americans have memories connected to pizza, it is one the most easily accessible and enjoyable dishes and it is delicious as well. Whether it be birthday parties, cookouts, graduations, or a Friday night, pizza can be eaten on any occasion. The streets were colorful and elegant. The colors of the houses, store windows, restaurants, fire hydrants, decorations and murals on the street were all colored according to the national colors of Italy: red, white and green. Most of the people in Little Italy were Italian with a few people that were non-Italian. Even though we went to little Italy in the morning, the restaurants were busy.
