Since the inception of the United States Army in 1775, thousands of leaders have taken charge over their units, bringing forth great success and framing the future of our country. One of these great leaders was General George S. Patton, who possessed a variety of skills that allowed him to lead his men anywhere in battle. As a great leader, Patton set an example for all future military leaders who would carry his honor and legacy. Born in California in the year 1885, George Smith Patton, Jr. held himself to the highest standard, always wanting to produce the greatest possible results. During his command as an Army General, Patton proved to be highly extroverted as he was always sociable, outgoing, and wasn’t afraid to express his personal opinion. As a leader, Patton also utilized intuition because of the situation that he was put into. Under this situation, Patton was forced to make split second decisions based on what he though was best, and oftentimes was not given enough time to use reasoning to develop the solution to a problem. Patton can also be described as a thinker, as he always encouraged his men to think differently. Finally, Patton can be described as a judger, as he always judged other men if they didn’t perform to proper expectations, such as the men that he slapped during his service as general. Altogether, General George S. Patton was a powerful leader that inspired the likes of many of his men, encouraging them to achieve the best possible results. As a leader in the United States Army, Patton helped model the way for future soldiers and officers, inspire a shared vision among him and his subordinates, challenging the process by taking risks and oftentimes doing things that others disapprove of, and enabling others to act by creating several opportunities for soldiers to learn and become more effective including the creation of the Tank Crew
