George Washington was born in Westmoreland, Virginia on February 22, 1732. He would grow up to be a very important part of the history of the United States of America. He is most known for being the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. Washington had very prominent qualities of being a strong leader. The electoral college picked up on this and overwhelmingly elected him as the first president during the first two national elections. During his presidency he worked to bring together conflicting groups within the rising nation. He agreed to contribute to pass Alexander Hamilton's programs trying to satisfy federal and state debts. They later became known as the “Founding Fathers”. The group did this in many ways that each affected America in various different ways. The Founding Fathers became known for writing and creating important documents that all make up the history of America. Throughout the American Revolutionary War, Washington was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief for the continental army by the second continental congress. He also had the role of the presiding over the Constitutional Convention, which was a convection that was held for the Constitution to be created and then eventually ratified to form the overview of the way of the first government under the Articles of Confederation. They sought to create a new government instead of fixing an old one. In doing so the Constitution was creating making a definite impact and influence on politics and history all over the world.
