Gloria Merrier, a Floridian Math teacher develops a new method to help her students pass the FCAT. She utilizes Math, Dance, Art and Music to encourage her students to learn and captivate the lessons. Additionally, she starts by teaching the lessons which her student might struggle in first instead of the easy lessons. Gloria’s method seems appropriate for all grade levels. It is something that most classroom teachers might use to motivate students.
Utilizing music to help students’ motivation in math is a great strategy. Too often students find math to be challenging and complicating. When students find something familiar in a complicated subject, it becomes not so challenging but rather interesting. Music entices the memory, therefore, it makes easier to remember. Art is the illustration or presentation of human creative skill and imagination, usually in a visual form such as painting or sculpture. Its purpose is to produce works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power. Art also involve geometry. Geometry is the branch of mathematics concerned with the properties and relations of points, lines, surfaces, solids, and higher dimensional element. Many people fail to realize that Art is related to Math. It is impossible to be a great artist without mastering the basic skills of Math.
These methods can be used in the classroom with younger students. Younger students have a lower attention rate. Therefore, lessons need to be entertaining and interactive. As a result, most teachers from early learning often use music, dance and art to teach students. Students learn best with hands on method. The ABC is best learned through song and so does the 1,2,3. When students find something repetitive with rhythm and beats, something they can use a dance move to, they find it easier to captivate. Additionally, by drawing, they learn to master counting and the basic of
Art is how an artist expresses their own emotion in their artwork. Artwork can express more than just emotion, it can be used as a memorial, awareness, and even art movement. Art movements are very powerful when used correctly. Art movements are created in different medium in art. Elizabeth Sisco has done a graphic design of Chicano movement.
Students would learn and become familiar with the Order of Operations and understand that they must do the work that is in the parentheses before continuing with the remainder of the problem. Another fun activity that the students could do for independent practice is ‘Fact Family Homes’. For this activity, students would be given three numbers; 2, 5, and 7; they would practice the addition first- 2+5=7 and 5+2=7 and then the subtraction- 7-2=5 and 7-5=2. The teacher would make six of these little homes on a worksheet and have different numbers and equations for the students to solve. One more activity that I would have the students work on to help retain the Commutative property of addition is a cut and paste worksheet.
In this article, Fay Yarbrough discusses the legislation passed by the Cherokee in order to control the marital options and choices of their women. Yarbrough begins by explaining the role of Cherokee women with regards to marriage, especially to non-Cherokee men, and the Cherokee laws policing sex and marriage. She then discusses the racial implications of those laws, specifically the laws regulating marriage with people of African descent. Yarbrough concludes by addressing Cherokee legislative provisions that include whites as viable marriage partners. She argues that through these marriage laws, Cherokee officials attempted to racially redefine the Cherokee people, aligning themselves closer to the white race and distancing themselves from those of African descent.

We all continue to live in a world surrounded by varyng forms of art, music, painting, literature, and all these are results of creative human activity in which materials are formed to show an idea or a thought of communication. I believe arts are meant to aid in understanding our past, describe the present and predict the future. “The Weather Project” by Olafur Eliasson managed to create an interesting presentation of the weather. The exposition seems to initiate an impressive tension between the city and nature. The room is encircled in natural elements sun, mist, light and by introducing these natural elements Ellison seems to persuade viewers to entirely appear themselve in the space and the exhibition.
This will be a perfect way to make them visual and understand the concept of math. The students can create a real world activity in their room. Let the students think and bring out their own knowledge that they have inside to learn what the teacher is
conceptual understanding - The lesson incorporates manipulatives, students will gain a conceptual understanding of addition and subtraction because they can use Play-Doh to physically add or take away muffins to solve the problem and understand
During my research I found an article called,“The Effects of Music on Student’s work” by Rudy Miller. Rudy Miller states “Soothing music or classical music can help a student focus.” The author also exclaimed that, “British studies claim that listening to Mozart for 10 minutes produced a “Mozart Effect” where test-takers I.Q scores went up 8 or 9 points.” The writer of the article also announced, “After the 30-day course, the average retention rate per student was 92%.” Miller argues that “listening to music is good for the brain.
For many years art has been a method artist 's have used in order to express themselves, and all of their feelings, experiences, and passions. Thus art tells a story, it tells the story of the artist that created it,, which mostly always relates to a vast majority and can be relevant for hundreds, or even thousands of years to come. This is exactly the case when it comes to Hans Baldung Grien’s art piece titled “The 3 Ages of Death” created in 1509-1510. Grien’s piece shows three females of three completely different ages; a child, a young women, and a elderly women.
What if there is one activity that can benefit students in every school across the nation? An activity that helps students to raise their grades and scores on standardized testing? An activity that allows students to form lasting friendships? An activity that will help students become more disciplined and confident? Would you let your child take that activity?
Artwork is what gives our life much more flavor to it. Life without art would be dull, and lackluster. Everything would be so basic, bare, and simple. Creativity is what really makes artwork amazing. People really enjoy some artists artwork, and are very passionate about it.
