Every 10 years the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issues a comprehensive document of goals and objectives to provide information and guidance to organizations and agencies addressing public health issues. The newest report, Healthy People 2020, established several new objectives to broaden thinking about populations in need. For example, some of these new objectives specifically focus on the health of the adolescent and lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender populations (Chicago Department of Public Health [CDPH], 2011).
