Do you ever notice heroes around the holidays? Most people see the holidays as a stressful time of the year; is it possible that heroes appear to make it less stressful? We are surrounded by heroes everyday. Regardless of what characteristics you think make a hero or who might be a hero, you will find heroes in television shows as well as the film industry. If you actually think about heroes in a movie or television show you will notice it is a lot more common than we might think. A lot of movies are made based on the theme of a hero. In his book, he has seventeen stages that follow each step of a hero's journey. This is the beginning of his or her adventure. The hero is finally out on their own. Buddy reaches this stage when he arrives in New York City. In the movie we see Buddy walking down the streets of New York. He is not acting like everyone else. He does not seem to know or understand why people are doing what they are doing. For example, he starts to walk across a street when he sees a man waving down a taxi cab. Buddy instinctively waves back to the man because in his mind, he thinks that the man is waving at him. This stage plays a big part for him because he has never been away from the North Pole before as he grew up their his entire life. New York is a very strange place that he must explore. In Buddy's journey to becoming a hero this stage is a vital part because this is the ultimate place where Buddy is on his own.
