It was the worst terrorist attack in Canadian history. June 23rd, 1985, was the day all 329 Canadians including 86 children were tragically killed on their plane to India. Their lives ended because, Indian prime minister Rajiv Gandhi ordered an attack on the Sikh separatists that had taken over the holiest shrine in Amritsar, India. Three Sikh men in Vancouver decided to act on their anger and started their plan to bomb the air India flight. Their plan forever to bomb air india 182 changed Canadian history. Air India 182 has changed Canada's; security, law, international relations, culture, and politics. The bombing affected law in canada because so many mistakes were made; it caused airport security to be examined more efficiently; the bombing …show more content…
The aircraft was “missing” from the screen of the men watching the many planes flying in the same direction in Ireland at around 8:14 (national geographic). The men in Ireland knew that it could have been a high-risk flight, so they called it in as missing within one minute when it normally would have been called in after 20 minutes of disappearing from the screen. At 12 pm that same day over 100 bodies were found in the ocean. Many were found in and around cork Ireland. Surprisingly Canadian owned cargo ships were the ones to have found the victims. Canada believed that this was an Indian tragedy. It was placed on India to solve what happened to these people. The Indian investigation team tried to do the best they could for an issue that should have been Canadian priority. They found out it was a bomb that ripped the plane apart by listening to the final words of the captains on the audio recording “black box” in the cockpit. They also figured out how the passengers died and where the bomb blew up. The terrorist attack was evidently not a “Canadian priority”. With all the mistakes made by the Canadian investigation team and how Canada placed everything on the Indian government, it was clear how little Canada really cared about the tragic event. The Canadian law was not the only ones who could have done better, but the airport security was at fault as …show more content…
If all the mistakes made at the airport were avoided, the people on the plane would still be alive. It was in Vancouver where the bag was dropped off. The bomb was let on to the plane due to the x-ray machine being broken. Even though the security team knew it was a high-risk flight, they did not bother to do a thorough job checking the bags to see if they would be able to put them on the plane. They did use handheld devices that were to be waved over the bags and would “detect” anything thing that would not be passed onto the plane, but as we know now those devices failed many people. The other major mistake that should not have been made at the airport was that the bag was ever checked in the first place. A man that we know only by the name of M. Singh was the one who dropped off the bag. Witnesses at the airport said that Mr. M.Singh “bullied” the women at the baggage check until she did what he wanted (The Globe and mail). The flight was going to Toronto to pick up and drop off passengers and bags that were from Vancouver but M.Singh did not want his bag loaded off in Toronto. All luggage was to be loaded off in Toronto but because he ”bullied” her his bag was left on the plane. Anyone would be able to see the major mistakes made here allowed the attack to happen, and because it was in an airport flying to another country it has changed Canada's national relations
The Halifax explosion holds significant importance in Canadian history as it is not only marked as one of the worst tragedies but also played a crucial role in shaping disaster response among Canadians
Greatly valued in the west, Canada is proud to have a set of rights and freedoms granted to every one of its citizens. Under the Canadian Charter Rights and Freedoms, it dictates what the state’s citizens are entitled to, which can involve the right to expression and the right to equality. Of course, there are reasonable limitations to these rights, such as restricting what sort of speech is free, but since the September 9, 2011 attack in New York City (hereby referenced as 9/11), the Canadian government has been passing legislature that has been cracking down hard on these rights. These legislatures, such as Bill C-36, has been created specifically to fight off terrorism, but this fight has been done almost blindly and in a rash manner. Cases
Lockerbie Crash Wednesday, December 21, 1988, was known as “The Night of Horror”, which was a day that affected hundreds of families and friends forever. On the evening right before Christmas, a plane filled with two hundred and seventy people, many being American college students flying home for Christmas to visit their families, was brought down by a bomb inside the plane. The bomb was in a suitcase loaded on the plane, which was believed to be placed there by terrorists. When the plane was brought down, it did a profusion of damage to Lockerbie, Scotland, a slim population of four thousand people.
Canadian/American relations have always been much like that of a brother and his younger sister. They are dependent on one another, and their bond is built off of friendship and trust. When battles occur, they ride in together, and when one is in need, support is given. In 1917, the Halifax Explosion devastated a section of Nova Scotia, and the size of the accident destroyed a large amount of both people and homes. The medicinal and reparation costs were more than the surrounding cities could afford.
The Oklahoma City bombing took place on April 19, 1995. There were hundreds of victims and hundreds of family and friends of those victims. Even though this event happened nearly 20 years ago, it still reminds me of service, honor, and kindness, the foundation of the American standard. Right after the incident, police rushed to the scene and started to rescue the people that were trapped or injured.
The Toronto 18 case also known as “The Battle of Toronto” that was named by the terrorist group back in the year 2005. The ringleader Zakaira Amara of the Toronto 18 case confessed it as the mimic to the 9/11. That group’s main task included crippling the economy and unleashing mass carnage, terror and destruction in downtown Toronto. The method being used included a number trucks loaded with tones of fertilizer bomb material and detonating them at the Canadian broadcasting center, the Canadian parliament building, the Canadian security intelligence services building and the parliamentary peace tower to take hostage of the building and ending up with the beheading of the Canadian ministers and including the Canadian prime minister at that time.
Was the enactment of the War Measures Act during the October Crisis Justified? When one thinks of a terrorist attack, Canada is not usually the first one to come to mind. Canada is usually regarded as a very peaceful country. But Canada was not always peaceful internally; in fact it had raging internal battles with the French wanting independence.
At first, no one had a clue about what had caused the crash, but later found that it must have been a suitcase bomb on the plane. This was figured out because the debris was spread out like it would be from an explosion. There were also other hints that signaled

So instead he decided to take a different plane that was slightly older. Even though they planned everything about this flight. He looked where the best place to stop for fuel was, emergency airport in case something went wrong, the exact route they were going to take and the exact weight of every little thing that wasn’t strapped down in the airplane. He even had to ditch somethings because they would have been over weight. These items included things like the fire extinguishers.
The pilot of the accident Piper PA-32R-300 airplane, age 60, was a credited Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) private pilot certificate (August, 2001) holder. At 11:40 am he contacted the air traffic control tower to request a departure clearance from Teterboro Airport (TEB), New Jersey. The controller provided the pilot with taxi instructions and inquired what route he planned to take to Ocean City, which the pilot replied after a short exchange that he would go down the Hudson River. Having chosen this route, the pilot had to contact the controllers at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) for permission to climb into “Class B airspace,” after the flight was transferred from TEB to EWR. Afterwards TEB controller cleared him for takeoff,
Canada then participated in the operation. Since the Second World War, Canada has been seen as a bystander in different situations and conflicts that are created every now and then. However, Canada in this war against terrorism shows a great supplier and

Aris 1 Unclear Bombs Should Be Banned Francis Timosawa was a 15-year-old boy that lived in the Japanese city of Hiroshima. On the morning of August 1945, a single plane flew over his city and he watched as an object fell from the plane. Suddenly, the sky turned brighter than the sun, and he could no longer think, see, hear or breath. That day, Timosawa’s city was completely destroyed by an atomic bomb thrown by the United States of America.
