Slavery was a cruel thing humans used to do in the past. Many slaves became famous abolitionists. One such slave is Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass wrote an autobiography to explain the horrors of slavery. This book was called The Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass. This book explained how Douglass outlasted slavery. If we never learned about his life, no one will truly understand slavery from an inside source. Douglass wrote his narrative to explain how slavery is terrible for slaves and how slavery corrupts slave owners. Slavery is terrible for slaves because they work nonstop and are beaten. Slavery corrupts slave owners because they treat other slaves like beasts, thus making the master a beast itself.
