In all of the books/movies that we have watched I noticed that someone in the story had courage. For some things like going up to the Radley house takes a lot of courage or leaving the reservation to go to an all white school. “ I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not who does not feel afraid, but who conquers that fear” Said Nelson Mandela In The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian Junior shows courage when he tells his parents that he wants to go to a different school which means that he’d have to leave the reservation. When he went on the first day he handled it better than I thought he would. In the time that it was set people didn’t like indians or colored people. Junior is the bravest person in this story by far. Jem shows courage by going up on the porch and touching the Radley house. Even when Dill,Scout and Jem go in the Radley yard to the window and see if they can spot Boo inside. Jem showed courage by looking in the window and even going back to get his pants. Many people Question the definition of courage, it could be what a person does or even who they are. Courage is one of the most important things a person could have. For insists Guy Montag from the novel” Fahrenheit 451” shows acts of courage by standing up for something. Boo rabley from “To kill a mockingbird” does something to help somebody that takes courage. Last Eliezer from” Night ”which is a book that tells a life story of someone in the Holocaust Genocide, shows courage because he is in a life threating situation and stays strong the whole way through.
Throughout the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, there are plenty of themes and morals of the story as the book is read. But there is one theme that is very important, and can relate to anybody in the world today. That theme is that true courage is not shown by just one person. Jem showed courage by touching the Radley house and Calpurnia showed courage by taking Scout and Jem to church with her. Although most of these characters show courage I think Atticus shows the most courage. Atticus shows courage by taking the Tom Robinson case and protecting Tom Robinson.
Courage is the ability to do something that frightens someone to do. Cassie Logan from the book Roll of Thunder hear my Cry by Mildred D. Taylor is a very courageous person despite the challenges and injustices she faces as a coloured person. Cassie proves her courage by standing up for Little Man in school, going to the Wallaces store after being told not to, and digging a ditch to stop the bus. Cassie is a very sassy and outspoken little girl, that loves her family and her land. She tries to show people that blacks are just as good as whites despite all the consequences that may come.
The theme of the story, To Kill a Mockingbird, is to always be courageous, no matter what. Examples of courage show up all throughout the novel. From Atticus, to Jem, to Dill, and to Mrs. Dubose they all show courage. Whether they are reading to Mrs. Dubose or running up and touching the Radley house they are all courageous characters. One example of Atticus showing courage is when he takes Tom Robinson's court case against the Ewells (Lee 89).
Courage is the mental strength that is needed to overcome a fear or difficulty. Throughout the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, the author, Harper Lee, displays courage in the character Boo Radley. Boo is a recluse that never steps foot outside of the Radley house; the town considers him a malevolent phantom, and there are many rumors about what he spends his life doing. For much of the novel, Jem and Scout are curious to meet this obscure character. Boo gains curiosity as a result of watching Jem and Scout, and eventually, he has to surmount his shyness to help them.

Cassie had courage when she had to stand up for her little brother, Little Man and then again during the fight with her rival Lillian Jean. Cassie showed that she can be sassy, she’s a very outspoken girl, and that she loved her friends and family. Even when equality meant nothing to everybody else but her, she still believed in it.
Many characters through the story, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’, have faced situations to be courageous, shown through many different examples. Boo radley, Atticus, & Scout are the main characters that had to show courage continuously in the story. To be courageous means to be brave in situations that other people may not agree with but in your mind you know its right to say and/do something. Boo Radley was a very shy but, courageous character all throughout the story. He was always in his house because of the trauma in his childhood.
According to Atticus, this is the ability to face adversity and go through with something honourable, even though you realize that it is impossible to win. There are quite a few characters in the book, which show some kind of courage, but there is one in particular, Atticus. Harper Lee made Atticus the hero of moral and a symbol of courage in her novel. Boo (Arthur) Radley established great courage in the face of danger, when Jem and Scout were attacked by Mr. Ewell. Boo ran out to help them. Boo saved them by stabbing Mr. Ewell with his own knife, killing Mr. Ewell. He risked his own life to save the children. Another way Boo portrayed courage was, that he left his house.

When first reading the book, most people would say that courage is displayed by those like Jem, Scout, Tom, or Atticus.
Courage is Earned! Courage can't just be said it has to be shown. In the book Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor, Mr. L.T. Morrision is the most brave, loyal, and kind person you will meet. Mr. Morrison showed courage by standing to the Wallaces, he moved Kaleb Wallace's car off the road, and when he stayed with the Logans even though he could get hurt Mr. Morrison’s actions proved that he knows what is right and he is going to stand up for that no matter what. Even though his parents were killed by whites, he stays calm and knows exactly how to deal with the situation.
