any innocent people in the colonial times who were accused of witchcraft didn't even partake in any of the activities that were associated with witchcraft, were still labeled as witches, and harshly punished or sentenced to death. The people of salem frowned upon witchcraft. the people had come to the conclusion that the devil had come to their town in 1692. Most of the cases of witchcraft were girls were acting strange and doing weird activities with women in the woods believed to be witches.the townspeople thought this was strange and took action.
The townspeople believed that to become a witch you have to be put under a spell by someone who is already a witch so the girls couldn't of done it themselves. The girls may have been in shock and just started believing that they were under a spell. The witch trials were not only wrong but ineffective the tests do not prove that they are witches. The idea of witchcraft is false and anything that was considered witchcraft could be explained today by science.

Many executions were performed during this time and most of the executions were performed on innocent people who were just accused of being a witch and were not actually proven to be witches. The girls were executed because they failed the tests to prove that they are not witches there are many cases of witchcraft such as the case of mary cotton where becaused she may have wanted the attention or simply believed she was a witch that she thought the devil came to town and was attempting to try to curse all of the townspeople. she also seemed to believe that "the devil was going to blow up and bring down all the churches in the county" and make all of the people become possessed and plunge the world into a fiery like
Since the witchcraft was such a confusing and terrible time for everyone, people were getting accused by these girls all the time, a lot of the time the court and the church would look for signs of being a witch, like making the accused take the test i talked about before but sometimes they just trusted the girls and didn't look for evidence at all. They just convicted the person to be a witch. This seems crazy to me because it doesn't seem fair at all, they didn't even have a chance to prove that they were innocent, instead they were automatically a witch. The Salem Witch Trials finally came to an end when the whole town felt that it was getting way out of control.
In the 1600 a large group of very religious people left their homes and went to the New World. In the Bible it states, that no witches (people who have the devil in them) should not live, so the Puritans would accuse people, mainly women, of being witches for simple reasons. This caused 20 people to be put to a painful death and more than one hundred in jails. What is the reason for the hysteria surrounding the Witch Trials in Salem 1692? The Salem Witch Trials hysteria of 1692 was caused by the belief in witches, the fear of being accused of witchcraft and the punishments all witches would fear.
Some people were even executed for the thought of being a witch. These accusations were caused by Confusion/Fear, Revenge, and Sport/Fun leading 19 innocent puritans to the gallows. Confusion and Fear was a prodigious hit at the first part of the Witch Trials. Nobody really knew what was happening “By March practically everyone
In the Puritan colonists’ village, witchcraft is one of the things they fear the most among the Indian raids. During the ancient days, if people were caught being a witch, the penalty is death. The spectral evidence, fear, and accusations are the main reasons that cause the tragedy in Salem Witchcraft. It took 24 innocent victim’s lives and 200 people were accused. This tragedy starts in 1692 the difficult time in Salem Village, Massachusetts.
Witches in the New World “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” (Exodus, 20:18). In February of 1692 and lasting just over a year, more than 200 people were accused of witchcraft and 19 were executed, 14 of them women, in a small fishing village called Salem. Once branded with the deadly label of witch, one either confessed or named other witches in desperation to be ridden of the title.
The Innocence of People During The Salem Witch Trials why did so many people during the colonial era devote their time to witchcraft? where they falsely accused or did they actually make a deal with a devil? The people that had to die or suffer were either witches or innocent peopIle. The colonial people back in 1692 were unaccepting of differences in people; therefore, they killed anyone they believed practiced witchcraft whether it was true or not. Court Trials
In the Summer months of 1692, twenty-four innocent alleged witches and wizards had been hung, pressed to death, or died in jail in Salem, Massachusetts. However, what caused the mass hysteria known as the Salem Witch Trials? Puritans based their life strictly on religion and the Bible in which they had no free time, education, and felt pressured just to be alive; the citizens were fearful of their future, causing their religion to overpower scientific and mathematical reasoning. In June 1692, two young Salem girls, Betty Parris and Abigail Williams, accused slave woman Tituba and two other white women of practicing witchcraft after Betty and Abigail began to exhibit strange behavior. Tituba confessed to practicing witchcraft and exclaimed that
Salem Witch Trials of 1692 The Salem Witch Trials were a terrible time in the early days of American History. The Puritan villagers were frightened about losing their new home due to starvation, Indians, and illness. Fear allowed the trials to happen. The puritans began to lose control of the strict religious tenant that brought them here to the new land.
Like being gay, being a witch was considered a major crime. People thought that if you were a witch you were unholy and you needed to be saved by Christ. People still had the same sort of problem in the rebellion. The stonewall and the Human Rights Society for human rights was shut down by the police. In salem if you did not confess to being a witch you were shut down also by execution.
While the witch trials were said to get rid of witches, who were bewitching people and ruining lives, it was unfair and cruel because they killed 19 innocent men, women, and children, 144 people were thrown in jail under harsh
The town perceived them as evil people, capable of doing harm to others. They believed that the witches had supernatural powers. Not having a structured court system during the 19th century was a major decision in the way the witches were treated. Presenting evidence against the witches that should have never
One of the things that were taken really seriously was WitchCraft, which was punished by death. A lot of innocent women died during those year in Salem. The punishments for crime in colonial times were not fair. The death penalty was one of the main ways a person was punished.
Some believed that the first women who were accused of witchcraft weren’t really witches at all. They believed, that they suffered from some sort of mental illness, such as epilepsy, or even a disease brought on by eating rye infected with fungus, which can elicit vomiting, choking, fits, hallucinations, and the sense of something crawling on one’s skin. But when doctors examined them, they found nothing wrong and said that they must be bewitched. People could be convicted of witchcraft without any solid evidence. Most of the evidence used against those accused of witchcraft amounted to “witness testimony” that the accused person 's spirit or spectral shape appeared to the witness in a dream at the time the accused person 's physical body was at another location.
Because religion had a major impact on this society, it made people go crazy when the word witchcraft got brought up within the Salem village. In The Crucible the girls started dancing around a fire and being rowdy and this behavior was unusual so it was just assumed that they were practicing witchcraft because Betty lie unconscious
Not many people know much about what actually happened in the Salem Witch Trials. Maybe someone would think that it was just about witchcraft and crazy people being hanged, but it is a lot more than that. The Salem Witch Trials only occurred between 1692 and 1693, but a lot of damage had been done. The idea of the Salem Witch Trials came from Europe during the “witchcraft craze” from the 1300s-1600s. In Europe, many of the accused witches were executed by hanging.
