Hypertension Management
Detecting hypertension isn’t easy, and controlling hypertension is crucially devastating worldwide. High blood pressure awareness should be identified in a global standpoint to effectively increase management. A high blood pressure treatment plan, using a combination of lifestyle changes and medication adherence is vital (Khatib et al., 2014). This paper highlights hypertension using two qualitative articles, CASP Tool checklist, and evidence matrix to provide effective research for health care outcomes revolving hypertension management.
Qualitative Articles Summary
Hypertension is one of the most common diagnosis in family practice and the leader of morbidity and mortality. The first article is a systematic qualitative

The challenge hospitals are facing are identifying the barriers with stakeholder, policy, makers, and healthcare professionals to implement the guideline in patients plan of care. The purpose of the article is to identify the views and obstacles to adhering to a national clinical practice guideline (CPG) on hypertension management from physicians, allied health care professions, and policy makers’ perspective (Lee et al., 2015). The CASP tool appendix B clinical questions, are used to identify the validity of this trial. The guideline chosen was the Malaysian CPG on the management of hypertension. A thematic analysis approach is used to identify the data for this sample study. There were 35 participants in the study, seven in-depth question were asked to policymakers and six focus groups were conducted with physicians and allied health professional. Researchers were mindful of personal views and bias about CPG on hypertension when conducting their research. Everyone who participated was sent emails to make remarks on the results identified to check for validity of the date interpretations. The result of the study was divided into main themes and three sub-themes. The main theme were variations to using CPG and barriers to adhering to CPG. The sub-themes concentrated on attitudes and feelings to CPG. The physicians were the main users of CPG and believe it was important to their …show more content…
The outcome measures are ensuring patients usage of medications to decrease hypertension while incorporating lifestyle changes in their plan of care through education prior to discharge. Another outcome will provide a cost-effective treatment for the hospital in providing quantitative and qualitative base research to implement managing hypertension. Understanding patients’ and healthcare professionals’ feelings and thoughts will help provide the data in maintaining low blood pressure. The Institute of Medicine aims to impact the outcomes in the healthcare setting. The IOMS are safety, timeliness, efficiency, effectiveness, equity, and patient-centered care (Institute of Medicine, 2001). The purpose of researching evidence base practice and analyzing articles for hypertension is to provide and educate patients. Educating patients about lifestyle modification, diet changes, physical activity, and medication adherence plays an important role. Effectively providing patients hypertension management tools will help provide equity. The outcome will greatly affect the Institute of Medicine’s aims (Institute of Medicine,
Discuss how the clinical question would guide the nurse’s search strategy to address the issue and implement a change in practice. This well-built clinical question will guide the nurse to search the keywords or their combination to narrow down the research. The keywords may include “anticoagulant therapy”, “warfarin toxicity”, “dietary management”, and “vitamin K administration”. Once the peer-reviewed journals and articles that contain these keywords are located, the nurse will review the evidence based practice.
Paul, Thanks you so much. I will spend today and part of tomorrow to rewrite the abstract to make more stronger substantial contribution to theory (Descriptive Theory) and practice of research ( Mixed Method - Qualitative Driven and Quantitative Supplementary Component Cross National Comparative). I will try and phone you if that is okay. Thanks again Regards
The importance of preventing and managing chronic diseases, which include renal failure and cardiovascular diseases, along with their risk factors are emphasized by the Department of Chronic Disease and Health Promotion of the World Health Organization (Desroches, Lapointe, Ratté, Gravel, Légaré, & Turcotte, 2013). However, there is evidence in literature showing a gap of knowledge in the kinds of educational interventions being considered as most effective in compliance to dietary regimen. The study by Desroches et al., 2013 states that there are limitations to their study including that being a short duration, low quality and adherence measures varied widely (Desroches et al., 2013) Hence, these limitations assisted in the generation of research questions, which are: 1) Which educational interventions being used show reliability in compliance or adherence to dietary regimen; 2) What are the detrimental factors contributing to low compliance to dietary regimen among patients with ESRD and CHF; and 3) Can a study performed in a longer length of time produce a higher rate of compliance to dietary regimen among patients with ESRD and
Evidence based practice (EBP) is a process of integrating high quality evidence into practice or care provided by health professionals and decision makers in health care. This discussion will explore the meaning of the term Evidence Based Practice further and discuss its origins. EBP requires finding the best available evidence to inform practice, its greatest benefit being the best possible care for a client. Other benefits and limitations will be further discussed below. EBP demands the client be seen as an individual and their unique circumstances be considered in the application of evidence
For this week’s discussion post I will identify a situation where evidence-based practice has been applied in my workplace. Evidence-based guidelines are put in place and into practice after research has been completed. This helps with intertwining practice and research and are established by professional organizations, government agencies, institutions, or expert panels (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2014). These clinical guidelines give clinicians findings to help in the decision making process of diseases or treatments. In developing evidence-based practice, a clinical question must first be put into place.
This information is used to appropriately implement prevention and treatment for patients. The second outcome integrates analysis of information gathered by healthcare personnel to identify trends and inconsistencies within the healthcare population. Through this the origin of problems can be ascertained, and preventive measures can be instituted. Subsequently prevention will decrease incidences and ultimately the cost to
Evidence based practice (EBP) is to demonstrate the best practice, which has been supported, with a clear rationale to back it up, while acknowledging the patient/clients best interest. In this professional outline it will be discussed why EBP is so important to start with student nurses career and continuing throughout the nursing career and the second main point will be on the impact it has on patient outcomes regardless of discipline. I believe if this mind set is instilled early in the nurses career the practice will evolve it a more proactive
Evidence-based nursing practice help to improve individual bedside practice because nurses work in the ward based on knowledge they obtained from previous research. It can also answer problematic clinical practice issue since it aim at solving problem, it improves nurse’s quality and reduces variations in care. Nurses are also confident in their decisions due to the fact that they know what they’re doing and can as well prove it because every patient deserves care that is based on the best scientific knowledge and ensures high quality and are cost-
In the clinical setting, the nurses’ expertise can be used to make clinical assessments and recommendations for routine care at a lower cost than a physician visit. This would increase the number of patients seen and increase the quality of the care provided. The advance practice nurse would be able to hone in on preventative measures and increase patient education. The advance practice nurse can also make recommendations about practice changes needed to facilitate better health outcomes through the use of evidence-based practice. Nursing leaders are aware of how important nursing science is to provide needed evidence to transform practice, even though, finding the time and resources to support any research activity is often challenging (Stone, 2017).
It’s important to use evidence based practices in nursing because it creates solutions to the patient’s needs, it improves the overall care of the patients, reduces harm and helps support nurse’s actions and clinical judgments. Sackett (2000) says that evidence based practice is looking at the best evidence along with using your clinic expertise in helping you to make a decision about the patient’s individuals care. Outline the process undertaken when searching for credible and relevant evidence to support Part 2 of the workbook. (Justify and support answers with credible and relevant evidence whilst adhering to UWS referencing guidance). The first element of finding credible and relevant evidence would be to research journals and articles, as

(Marieb and Hoehn, 2016) In my clinical setting, it was expected that a level of proffesional protocol is carried out for a correct, and safe arterial reading while maintaining a hygienic and aseptic approach that is safe, and reduces the risk of detrimental harm to myself as a healthcare professional and to the patient in my care. Bp is read from patients as a matter of determining illness by monitoring what is known as a NEWS score, presenting a validating number to recognise the level of health of an individual. (Royal College of Nursing, 2015) Hypertension, high blood pressure, or hypotension, low blood pressure, can be a sign of a decreased state of health for my patients, therefore it was imperative that a bp exam is carried out in the correct way for the
Public health care must ensure that the community needs are well analyzed, by gathering the necessary data, through asking of important questions and searching through literatures to find solutions that are evidence based. Being aware of the evidence in which the public healthcare practice is based is very crucial to the nurse or public healthcare professional, public
Medical pluralism is defined as the utilization of more than one medical system or the use of both conventional medicine and CAM for health and illness (cf. Wade et al. 2008). Study conducted medical questionnaires reported medical pluralism in diabetes mellitus are still limited. However, the recent patterns of MP and associated factors in diabetes mellitus treatment particularly in Indonesia need to be investigated more closely.
Giving care to a patient is not a straightforward process because a patient is made up of advanced systems. Symptoms and the severity of a disease process are dependent on a particular patient, and it may not always be uniform from patient to patient. Because of this, nurses must be able to use their knowledge appropriately to help a patient. Nurses use techniques, such as Evidence Based Practice, in order to integrate new and advanced knowledge into their patient care (Canada, 2016). By exercising evidence based practice, nurses effectively seek knowledge, take experience from past situations, and apply this intelligence to best give patient care (Canada, 2016).
