The three people I am writing about are James Craig Anderson, Johnny Lee Butts, & Emmett Till. James Craig Anderson was murdered in a hate crime. Johnny Lee Butts was killed in a hate crime also & was also ran over. Emmett Till was killed for flirting with a white woman. James Craig Anderson was a 49 year old African American who was murdered in a hate crime in Jackson Mississippi In 2011. He was killed by a 18 year boy named Deryl Dedmon who ran him over with a pickup truck. Before James was killed he was robbed and repeatedly beaten by a group of white teenagers, including Dedmon and his friends. But prosecutors was saying that James Craig Anderson was near his truck in the parking lot at the Metro Inn in Jackson at 5 am. Two vehicles with the young white teens pulled off the freeway and into the motel parking lot. The teens claimed that they believed that James was trying to steal a Car because they saw him trying to break into one. But the car James was trying to get in was his car, he had lost his keys. Around 7:00, there were 3 teens in a white Monte Carlo they have been drinking vodka & smoking a lot of marijuana. Matthew Whitten was driving & he spotted Johnny on the opposite side of the road. One of the unknown teens said that the driver turned his steering wheel & the car went in the direction Johnny was walking. The car got close & hit Johnny knocking him all the way in air. The Monte Carlo was traveling about 55 to 70 mph. His body was found 172 feet away from where he was hit. The teen who was driving stopped the car got out & looked at Johnny Butts body, then got back in the car & sped off. Later that day, the two teen passengers turned themselves in to police. Darby was arrested, telling police exactly what the two other teens said he would say, that he hit a deer. Darby denied he was drinking or smoking
Both the cases of Tom Robinson from the book to kill a mockingbird, and Emmett Till were judged in front of an all white all male jury and they both lost. There were a lot of similarities in the cases the white people got away with what they did. Emmett Till was murdered after he was dared to talk to a white woman and her husband, Roy Bryant ,and his half brother, J.W. Milam kidnaped and beat Till and finally killed him. Tom Robinson was accused of raping a white girl.

The human mind is incredible. The mind is extraordinary as it acts as a control panel of the person itself. As wonderful as it sounds, the mind can also be very deadly. A single bad thought could manipulate the whole mind and cause destruction and tragedy to the person themself and to innocent people. The author compiled several documents that had been previously unavailable to the public, interviews with family members, and newspaper articles to tell the story of a fourteen year old African American boys life and death. Emmett Till was raised by a single mother and his grandmother in Chicago.1 The author gives a very detailed account of not only Emmetts short life but of his mothers life shortlyt before Emmetts birth until after his death. The Tragic Life of Emmett Till Emmett Till’s deformed body lead to a new idea. The new idea was like a spark to tinder. In 1955 in Leslie Millhams barn Emmett Till was dragged from a ford truck and the next thing a whip sound pierces the starry night. And a strangled cry from Till rings out from the barn. The men drag Till back to the truck and throws him into the bed of the truck and blood starts to trickle out of the bed of the truck.
The murder that changed the world Between 1882 and 1968, 4,743 people were lynched. Lynching is the execution of an offender by a mob without trial. Out of the 4,743 people lynched, 3,383 of those were black. One of the many victims of this crime was 14 year-old Emmett Till. While visiting his family in Money, Mississippi, Till was abducted from his home by two white men.
Nat Turner and John Brown are both noted, as being symbols of American reform. Leaders of abolitionist groups, who went on a killing spree believing they were given “extraordinary powers from above” and were executed for their strong beliefs of anti-slavery. Their gruesome murders could easily attract followers and spark interest in others to write their biographies. John Brown and Nat turner both came from strong religious backgrounds.
