The main characters lived in a place call Waknuk. The people who lived there followed the rules of their religion carefully. They killed the animals that were in a strange shape and exiled people who grew in strange shapes. In this story, the Waknuk villagers who deeply believed in their god’s rule is in power and the Deviation (the living thing have grown in strange shape) does not have the power. 2. Who is the protagonist (main character) of the text and what conflicts or challenges are they faced with? The main character of this story is David Storm and the group of children who can communicate through thought-shape like David. They are the Deviation in Waknuk where not allow any strange shapes living things. The Deviation were either killed or exiled to the Fringes, a place where it is hard to live.
