Brutus “the honorable man” vs Antony “the noble man” In a battle of speeches, Brutus and Antony both give their speeches at Caesar’s funeral. In this paper, there will be discussion on the compare and contrast aspect of their speeches. Both Brutus and Antony give amazing speeches, but they both have different tactics when it comes to giving their speeches. In this paper Ethos, Pathos, and logos will be talked about and how each person used them to his advantage. The next paragraph will compare the speeches, giving details on how they are similar. When comparing both Brutus and Antony’s speeches and how they are similar it can all be summed up to one thing. They are both trying to persuade the audience or the people of Rome. Not only that, but the way they both spoke repetivally. For example Brutus says “I honor him; but, as he was ambitious , I slew him” (element 831). When talking about the differences between the two speeches the main difference is how each person uses logos, ethos, and pathos. When Brutus says his speech the main ones he uses are logos, and ethos. The example for Brutus is in his opening line of his speech when he says “Romans, Countrymen, and lovers” (elements 831). What this states is that Brutus wants to speak to them logically as he thinks they are intelligent people and will understand what he says for his reason (Schoolworkhelper). Whereas Antony uses pathos and connects with the people emotionally by saying “Friends, Romans, Countrymen” (elements 834). This allows him to connect with the people and make them feel like he is just as equal as they are (Schoolworkhelper). Both of them use good tactics, but Antony understands that the common people are easily persuaded and if he uses emotion he will be able to sway them to his side and want to riot against the
